  • Board won`t sack him till the review is complete. Be far too late to worry about by then anyway.

I said it from the start - generally appointing the caretaker manager from a failed regime is a huge mistake. We have just proved it, in no uncertain terms.

I guess the financial situation at the club has to be the major reason for this.

Parky is a nice bloke I'm sure but a terrible manager.

[cite]Posted By: supaclive[/cite]Off It - you were still for him vs Derby ..... sigh .... I can't imagine ANY Charlton fan can think he's the best man for the job now?...

Was I? Was I really? Just because I wasn't slagging him off doesn't mean I thought he was the best man for the job. But you think what you want to old son.

You can't run a football club like an accounting business....you've gotta make gut decisions quickly where needed. The directors haven't got a clue when it comes to football. You can see there is no confidence on the field and apart from getting rid of players then you have to change the management. I have a feeling Curbs will get the Sunderland job after today's result. I have heard George Graham's name mentioned and I know he is tainted by the 'bungs' in the past but I think he would instill some discipline and fight into this squad......

Sbragia has been given an 18 month contract at Sunderland - Curbs won't be going there.

Curbs must be eyeing up the situations at Man City, Portsmouth and Newcastle - they would be the most likely to be looking for new managers in the near future.....

What is the point in getting in a manager now? He should have gone after three games, when he had only gleaned one point. Why waste the money now?

You would have to be mad to want the job, the damage is done. Keep him until the summer and evaluate it then I am off to get drunk have a curry and beg the wife for sex.
  • Whatever happens, it needs to happen soon. This is breaking my heart. Parky may well be a great manager for someone else at some other time but at the moment it isn't working and time is something we don't have.

It maybe someone we hate,it maybe someone that does not espouse the Charlton values, but we need someone now, someone who will galvanise the team and give them some belief.. I was wrong we should have done some thing when we sacked Pardew, now it may be too late

I would be happy with Ince, he worked wonders at Macclesfield & Wimbledon - the step up at Blackburn was difficult - I think he would come to us - local East London(!) boy, needs to prove himself - knows the lower leagues well.

Archie Knox as first team coach.

All this assuming we can afford any of them of course.

    Souness, Souness, Souness.

I would be terrified of putting in a the sort of gutless displays we are seeing at the moment, if I had to go and face him to explain why I had been culpable for conceding the 150th goal of the season from a set piece.

To be honest, in the grand scheme of things it no longer matters who is in charge, we are fcuked. The board will not release the sort of money it is going to take to get us out of this mire.

Christ, it gets worse and worse. All I have to look forward to is fecking Joe Pasquale in panto tomorrow!!!!

Atleast I'll be able to boo without the fear of being hung drawn and quatered.

For me I'd love to give PDC a crack......would put the club back on the map and cause a huge stir around the place that's for sure...maybe he could attract a few tasty players with his connections.....crazy maybe (and for many reasons I agree) but what the hell!!

All talk of the "Charlton way" needs to cease NOW, we need to get nasty and start winning games,it doesn't matter a shiny shite if the manager has a long on going love affair with all things Charlton or just sees this club as another notch on his career bedpost, I'd rather have someone installed with a winning mentality, 3 points in 8 games is frankly bollocks we have put up with this bull for long enough,I have forgotten what a win feels like and now we celebrate draws as if they are wins, if we are ever to turn any kind of corner Parkinson simply must go and if he has any dignity be doing it right away.

At the moment the Charlton way = no win in 16 and the laughing stock of the division.

    Bulls to the Charlton way.

Lets become dirty Charlton and kick our way out of this.
  • Eight matches, no victories.
As caretaker, Parky has obviously failed his opportunity.

The first question, which may be more emotional for Addicks ... do Mark Kinsella and Phil Chapple go with him?
If they were not part of the solution, are they part of the problem??

The second question is, who will be the new manager. And does he get to answer the first question, or does he have to take the current coaches, repeating the mistake of Dowie w/Reed, MRobson???

Parky out. He was part of the old Pardew set up and must go. The board need to act now. Someone stated yesterday that the board were going to make funds available. If so they need to spend to bring in a few players on a gamble that we might, just might stay up. Because if we do go down, the purse strings will be even tighter next season and we could well struggle again. League One is hard to get out of and the football is not pretty. There'll be a load of different players coming into Charlton if we go down. These players will need to be battlers and big physical lads who can deal with the ball in the air more than this league.

As much as I'd love to see PDC down there, I really don't think he would be the ideal choice.

He's been away from English football for a while now, doesn't know this division at all and I just can't imagine him getting the team to defend like they need to. We'd probably end up involved in some cracking games and score lots of goals, but end up losing 4-5 every week!

Still, if he got a defensive minded coach in with him to sort that end out I suppose it could work. I would certainly imagine him to be inspirational - and the post match press conferences would be good!

Unfortunately, if necessary and the new man does not want them, they too have been part of the old regime

It matters not how much the board put in in January, without a total managerial clearout we are marooned and nobody would want to join us but loan mercenaries.

    Out out out!!!
  • Yep. I've resisted saying it up until now, but we desperately, desperately need a new broom to sweep out all the shite of the old regime. Unless, that is, the board have already conceded that we're going down this year and are trying to save a bit MORE money.

FWIW I don't think anybody wants to manage us. I'd like to see Ince as I think he's the sort of bloke who needs us as much as we need him after getting the pump at Blackburn, but can't see him wanting to tarnish his reputation with a club in a ridiculous amount of trouble so soon after getting the sack from his first 'high-profile' job. We'll end up with a no-mark who gets us a sum total of 15 points for the remainder of the season and has us relegated by Easter
