Keeping Pardew around would have been akin to keeping around the house a wife
that you badly wanted to divorce.
Maybe some of our Irish posters can relate.

Absolutely spot on. People need to log on to CAFCTV and check out the Sheffield United farce, or the Barnsley farce, or even the Sheffield Wednesday farce and then see if they can seriously ponder whether Pardew should have stayed - it was not even close to being an option.

The performance against the Blade meant that his position was, quite literally, untenable. There was simply no way the board could have carried on backing him as the man had lost all credibility with the players and supporters. He could not go on.

I think those claiming that Pardew would have fared better than Parky are kidding themselves. Sure, the lack of a win has been very dissapointing but apart from at home to Coventry there has been nothing comparable to the Barnsley/Sheffield United disasters.

The bottom line for me is that we CAN'T keep changing managers and hoping to hit gold with the next Martin O'Neill. We have got to back someone to do the job and at the moment Parkinson is probably the best bet because he already knows the players and the problems that we have and does not need a long evaluation period.

No but he had to be replaced immediately by an experienced manager if the board were serious about staying up which as we have now found out, they weren't. If you look at it from the board's perspective, Parkinson was the right choice, cheap and around the level that we're gonna drop to.

No as Pardew is responsible for brining in the rubbish players that have got us into this posistion, he has wasted 15 million pounds on players during his time as manager. We are stuck with Parkinson because no other manager could make a difference with this team.
