When you say Dicko do you mean Chris Dickson, the man who has yet to make a first team start? What criteria are you using for "best"? I think Zheng was an Uncle Les signing, technically.

I honestly cannot think of one.

Pardon me but I still think Bougie man was overrated

Too error prone and shite concentration

Still one of his better signings though
  • I think pards would say his own contract.

How on earth is Dickson the best signing?

I would go with Semedo/Weaver/Iwelumo free transfers.

    Boughera by a long way

Iwelumo wasn't bad either big Chris in the last minute
  • When i talk about best signing im also talking about players he signed aka dickson who arrived unknown from non-league side for a cheap sum of money. So that is a good bit of business
if we sell him for a larger amount.
  • Ben Thatcher? (runs for cover)
  • Andy Gray

  • Best Signing - Bougherra - we've never replaced him and I doubt we ever will.

Surley it was Iwellumo, in terms the goals he scored for us last season, the profit we made off him and the potential he is forfilling this season allbeit at Wolves.

Semedo, Iwelumo or Weaver. I would put Yassin into that list too but we still haven't seen that much of him yet.

    Iwelumo or Bailey.

Bougherra never played particularly well for us.
  • Chris Iwelumo by some way.

True. Goes without saying. Let me re-word: I never saw Bougherra play particularly well for us. Where as Bailey and Iwelumo had the most positive effect (out of a very bad bunch) - in my opinion.
  • 1. Martin Christensen - no Scandinavian player has had a similar impact on our team since Tom Hovi in the 1990s

    2. Dean Sinclair - the best midfielder you've never heard of

    3. Chris Dickson - already a member of Charlton Athletic's pantheon of great strikers - Leary, Hales and Mendonca to name but a few. If he does join Gillingham I will think back with much affection to the many goals he didn't actually score for us but might have....

Special mention - Svetoslav Todorov - despite the fact he is the only member of the squad who comes to training on a mobility vehicle, he has bravely ditched his zimmer frame on several occasions to treat the Valley faithful to a five minute cameo of his earlier days...

how could you forget the greatness of young Izale the Clown or even the great impact Dorian Smith had in his trial period

Big Chris for me, would have had more impact as well had the team not been buggered about with to allow for the inclusion of Gray who hasn't had the same impact.
  • NLA,

Pardew assembled a truly jaw-dropping array of strikers and, as you can imagine, it wasn't an easy decision for me - both multi-million pound man Cool Hand Luke and Izale, of course, were under very close consideration!!! As was the newest up and coming star on the scene 'Fleets'...

Must salute your selection of Cook and Sinclair - two exciting loan signings that left the Addicks faithful wide-eyed in disbelief....

Dorian Smith was the midfielder with, allegedly, the skills of Gazza and the fitness of Jo Brand, if I recall correctly....

The best loan signing had to be Sam Sodje-how we miss him now

This is a bit like a 'what was Stalin's most endearing personality trait' thread!
  • You are spot on sailor with the attributes of Dorian

i nearly couldnt bring myself to call Varney a great signing my self i mean he was so far greater than great it would be unfair to liken him to such mere mortals as Mendonca,Kinsella,D Bent, Hales

i mean no one has really touched on the job thathas been done by Hudson who must surely go down as the finest CH in our history
  • NLA,
