Where is he off to?

Or does he really have a bruised bone?

I was told by someone who allegedly knows "a source close to Mr Weaver" that his agent was told to look for a new club as far back as November. Not sure how true it is mind, but surprised I've not heard more rumours.
  • We all saw the dive that bruised his hip, but I am puzzled as to why he was then in full training and in pre-match warm ups and seemingly OK to dive. The bruising seems to have taken a lot of time to show up. I'm sceptical on this one as well.

No idea, maybe one of the other clubs in the bottom half of our league we will want him? Do any of them have terrible keepers?

All things point to him trying to find a new club in this window. He's probably on decent money so they've wrapped him in cotton wool since he was 'injured' although he was fine to be on the bench for the League games he's somehow not been on the bench for the cup games. A few sides will be looking for an experienced keeper.
  • I was told that he suffered a hip injury just before the coventry match in december.

He wasn't on the bench against Forest either to be fair.
  • As I said on the Randolph thread we now have two good young keepers, a financial blackhole and so one of the three are on their way out sooner or later. Presumably Weaver as he's on the highest salary.

apparently he gets 16 grand a week.which i feel is a fookin joke .we have 2 good young goalkeepers so we dont need him and with the money we pay in his wages we could buy a decent defender

Not disputing whether this is true or not.

But can I assume that some posters know conclusively earnings of individual players .... ?

I do find that hard to believe.

Fair point Scoham. It was the Darby game where he was first left out due to a 'knock' yet sat on the bench...

I can see him being off sooner rather than later
  • Let's get rid of him. His wages must be pretty high and at the moment he's getting a lot for SFA.

As others have said we've got two keen young keepers, desperate to play for CAFC. Give them their chance.

Didn't Derek Chappell whisper you the wages of each player when he was on last?

    I thought he told everyone?

Damn, that must have the only day in the last 5 years when I haven't logged on ......*kicks cat in frustration*
  • Nicky Weaver on 16K? I seriously, seriously doubt that.

Even in the Premiership days that would have been a sizeable salary for us to pay out so I doubt we would pay that in the CCC for a keeper who was not exactly in huge demand.

I'm sure he's off, whether injured or not, if we can sell him, he'll be gone. He's a good keeper but not a great one in my view and he is especially prone to lack of confidence. I didn't see any sense in taking him out of the team until recently but his form became more and more patchy and at that stage it was right to bring in Elliot.

Our wage bill was £20m last June (fair enough might include staff in that). Probably had Bent, Faye, Gibbs, Thomas and a few others on £20k+, players like Weaver, Holland, Todorov must be on £15k or so. They were signed as the club believed they had the quality to get us straight back up and help keep us there.

It couldn't have dropped from £20m to half of that, could it?

Only my opinion but I still think he's our best keeper.
