I guess they overlooked the fact that Fads and Viglen also went up the swanny
  • & Redbus & Mesh weren't exactly Footsie 100 contenders either.

FADS was still trading long long after they stopped supporting us. Viglen is still trading as well as part of Amstrad

Both still going after they stopped sponsoring us. Both got bought up as successful businesses I think but may be wrong.

I vaguely remember Fads pulled out because of the Hales/Flanagan confrontation as they didn't want to be associated with such unsavoury going-ons.

Well, the fight was in Jan 1979 and FADS didn't start sponsoring our shirts until 1980

Shortly? They were trading as recently as 2008 as Leveys (FADS)

Fads were briefly owned by a company that I worked for in the 1980's....we asset stripped them, and sold on the carcass which traded for about 18 months before it was liquidated. Although Leveys have used the name, its not the same company as the one we are talking about from the 80's...albeit for all I know they may well have still been in the same DIY game.

I was at the old RedBus building in Docklands doing a server migration last year. They're part of the 'Telecity' group now. The Soveriegn House and Meridian Gate datacentres are just as shit under Telecity as they used to be under Redbus.

Ahh I said I worked for them...doesnt mean I liked what we did....I remember taking over a company called Brown Bear and having to strip out there office furniture...nobody had even told the staff that the company had been sold out beneath there feet...was a really awful situation.

Henry, have spoken to my people: seems it was the pitchside advertisements Fads withdrew for a few months after the fracas. I had an old-timers moment!
