Ray Lamontagne last night in Brum

Gutsy, fragile, powerful performance, he hardly said a word but the music, lyrics and all that he invests in them spoke absolute volumes.A mix of new and old, the live performance really brought his new material to life and some of them will become live favourites. The acoustics and sound quality at the symphony hall was quite stunning, though personally I prefer gig music a bit louder and raw, having said that theres an incredible rawness to his vocals. He cut quite a lonely figure at times, baring his soul to all, seemingly gasping for air like an exhausted swimmer. The audience always gave reverential silence before the last note of each song finished.. . which added to the atmosphere, But how do people manage to listen to such moving music without even noddin their heads ?

Took me ages to get that : - )
  • What a shame!
  • Im still confused ?!?
  • Henry nearly killed me,
'Fore they hauled his ass in jail
Slapped me right across my face
With a flour sack full o' nails

Nearly broke my head in two
    With his steel-toed boots
    Shovin' all that money
    Down the laundry chute

    It's a shame,shame,shame
    Baby it's a cryin' shame
  • Wasn't he on trial with us?:-)
  • ain't he the bloke from Walsall
