If you're looking for later 80's inspired check out the following bands
Deathstars, Skinny Puppy, Midnight Configuration, Dolls of Pain, Kid Carpet, Death of Dawn, Robots in Disquise and my favourites....STARBASE 109 (just released their 2nd album sounds like a cross between Trumpton, OMD and teletubbies with a very healthy dose of sci-fi imagery thrown in.
Peter Gabriel - Shock the monkey LFO - LFO The Farm - Groovy Train Together - Hardcore Uproar Twenty 4 Seven - I can't stand it Most stuff by Technotronic
Soft Cell – The 12” version of Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go is a must, but be careful, there is more than one version. The one that gets the best response is the one with the extended bridge between the two songs.
Fad Gadget - Back to Nature or Ricky’s Hand or the remixed version of Swallow It.
Divine – You Think You’re A Man
Depeche Mode – If your audience know their stuff go for Dreaming Of Me or better still the b side Ice Machine. If they don’t New Life or Just Can’t Get Enough are safer bets.
Herbie Hancock – Rocket
The Silicon Teens – Most stuff off of Music For Parties is a safe bet, though people are most likely to have heard their version of Red River Rock, which is in the film Planes Trains & Automobiles.
John Foxx – Probably Underpass or 20th Century, though you could try one of his collaborations, perhaps From Trash with Louis Gordon.
Ultravox – Sleepwalk.
The Normal – T.V.O.D.
Our Daughters Wedding – Lawn Chairs
Naked Lunch – La Femme
Blancmange – Most of the singles from Happy Families will serve well, but I’d choose That’s Love That It Is.
The Human League – If they are very keen go for Being Boiled, if not Don’t You Want Me is safer.
some suggestions, might not all be what you;re after
Age of Consent - New Order Thieves Like Us - New Order Atmosphere - Joy Division Party Fears Two - Associates Feels Like Heaven - Fiction Factory Move On - Fashion Visions of China - Japan Never Never - The Assembly Darkness - Human League Black Man Ray - China Crisis Einstein a go-go - Landscape Brilliant Mind - Furniture
