NEW ARTICLE: Have Parkinson's Charlton finally found the Championship formula ?

With positivity, spelling and punctuation errors that would have a BBC journo turning in his grave, i've drunk a pint of the Oggy juice and set down my reasons why i think we have a chance.

Agree / Disagree ? Any comments at the bottom of the article would be gratefully received.

Hmmmm...I think you should alter that statement!
  • I agree with what you have said AFKA - and whats more I have been saying it all along!

We are staying up - say we are staying up
  • Agree with the artcile in that things definitely look better than a month or so ago.
But......... "The signings of Murty and Ward have made a big contribution to just two goals conceded in the past five games". We lost 2-1 at both Burnley and Bristol City so that's a bit wrong.
  • Cheers Chris, Mr Rudd had kindly already pointed that out. Sadly i can't amend it until i get home tonight. Will do then
  • That's why the BBC blog gets more comments that Charlton one's. They check their facts ; - )

Ain't it annoying when that happens.

Can't argue with that Chris, but even just 4 goals conceded in the past 5 games reads a lot healthier compared to what was going on during Pardew's last days.

And 3 clean sheets in those 5 games too.
  • Agree, going to be an exciting time to the end of the season, fingers crossed . Nice to see AFKA feeling more positive.
  • This is where I got the feeling a while ago that Parkinson could turn it around, even though until recently I gave up and got frustrated again. We look like a team, we're organised, we're more dangerous up front, get the feeling with Dickson and Kandol they'll be a lot more unpredictable than Gray was, and more composed in front of goal than Varney. We're creating more chances than we were before. Racon has definitely added a bit of class to the midfield, if only he wasn't injured all season. Players like Murty and Ward have given us more leadership and experience, playing a big part in making us more solid.

Even if we go down Parkinson looks like he could build a solid team, unlike Pardew.
  • Seriously, I've been saying since xmas that I don't think we'll go down.
Then again, I've also been saying that the world is flat.

I think we are still lacking that bit of flair to deliver to the forwards, but fingers crossed the goals keep coming from deep, forging a decent defence as he seems to have done will bring dividends though

It's not great but we seem to be creating more and better chances than we were.

This is where Parkinson needs to bring on players like Sam, Shelvey and Todorov as subs when the game is tight, they will do things differently than the midfield and strikers we have at the moment which can make the difference.

    Well it is............... isn't it?

last time I looked it was.
  • Most of my clan (family of supporters) were not too happy with the job being given to Parkinson but we actually understood why the club came to the decision, money, we couldn't afford to go out there and get someone that would have kept all the fans happy (this in itself is an impossibility). We didn't boooo the previous manager and as such when things changed we continued to support our players from the terraces and hoped that things would improve. I still think Parkinson would be using Gray up front had he not been injured and feel that being forced into changes has worked in our favour. Ward upon turning up said that we needed to get results even if the style of football was not pretty to watch and this seems to be the case. It also helps to keep a regular side in place with only one or two changes each week. As a manager, I still think he misses out on a few things, especially his use of subs. The result yesterday was excellent, we cant do much about what happens elsewhere, and with a bit of luck here and there we will be staying up. I for one will be there next season come what may.
  • I know we are escape specialist of the past, but this one would be the best yet, so get real and understand that we may not make it.
I dont mind being wrong but its unlikely.
  • Best to talk up what we can achieve.

Rather than dismiss it with 12 games to go, as unlikely.

    Agree 100%.

Wouldn't want to be in the trenches with some of you lilly-livered jessies 'realists' :-)
