I've been supporting the Addicks since 1955, but I don't think I can recall a more inept pair of full backs than Butterfield/Youga today.

Please just one person tell me that they would have put kelly in the team today after that diabolical performance on tues night!
And shelvey or dickson couldnt even get on the bench at the expense of ........toddy!

Pardky has lost the plot (not that i think he knew the plot in the first place)!!

Youga must be a season ticket holder in the East Stand - he looked like a real spectator at the match today(sorry to all my East Stand mates).
  • I@ve actually seen Youga play a lot worse than he has today. Butterfield was without a doubt one of the worst players I've ever seen in a Charlton shirt. He's a fucking disgrace.

Moutakill is still a lot worse

No way. He is twice the player Youga is.
  • What has it come to. We are arguing about which of Charltons players are the most shit. Unbelievable

Youga is fundamentally a decent player. Pardew destroyed his confidence and he is still recovering from that.

He saved at least one certain goal today and as one of our few players with some sort of physical presence plus pace will do well in league 1. He doesn't hide so will do for me.

A year ago we were chanting his name and Pardew bullshitted that he deliberately sent him to Scunthorpe to bring him on when it was only injuries to all our other left back options that forced him to select Kelly.

Butterfield had a 'mare agreed. He won't be here next season so forget him and play Moo2 or if he is on his way blood Solly.

    LOL, no, really..LMFAO.

How can you consider any performance by ANY player to have been worse than Butterfield today? Were you you even there? Seriously, Butterfield is fucking shit.

Thought Youga did OK today. His defending didn't scare me as much as it has on other occasions. There were errors and a few headless chicken moments - but by and large he seemed to be thinking about what he was doing more than usual.

There was one moment in the second half when i felt truly sorry for him. Everybody around me was screaming at him for not chasing back after a ball that had gone over his head with a Watford attacker bearing down. But it was obvious that Elliot had called for it and that's why he didn't chase it down. Elliot made it easily and cleared the ball and Youga in no way deserved the abuse he was given.

Butterfield was terrible, though. Slower than Basey, and without the cultured left foot to compensate...

Unfortunately Youga is not a decent player. He is an example of the curse of the modern day footballer. Looks to be an amazing athelete, appears to be dynamic on the ball but it is a complete waste of space. Youga has no understanding of positional play, does not grasp the simplistic definite requirement of a fb ie must be within ten yards of his center half when defending, a fb never shows a winger inside when defending near his own box, and if you're not goalside of your opposite number run like billy 'o to get back into position.

I watched Youga play at first and hoped his energy could be incorporated. The basics mentioned above are not something that a teenager would be incapable of. Yes some of them will happen, but Youga manages to get just about every single one of them wrong when questioned. To think people criticise Mouta when anyone analysing goals against us will see Youga out of position virtually every time.
  • Youga is pants.

    I don't agree.

There may well be other reasons why Moo2 doesn't deserve to be playing, and i would accept those if true, but he is not a 'bad player', and certainly better than what we currently have playing there.

Moo2 will rightly leave in the summer, but i believe there is more chance of him being a success at his next club than a failure.
  • I'll watch Moo2 at his next club with interest. Off the top of my head we've plyed about 5 different right backs this season, Murty an Moots being the least worst of them.

Our best performance of the season saw Basey and Moo2 as our full backs. Have'nt seen that pairing since. Work that one out.
  • Given our position we may as well have stuck with the team we finished with last season. Why not play Basey, at least he's Charlton.

There are reasons that Moo2 isn't playing (as Parkinson has said). I have long felt he should be in the team and that we shouldn't be loaning in a series of crap right backs which must have frustrated him, but he's been very naughty. I won't say anything more. Hope he turns it round but you guys are having a debate around him as a player - you have to accept there's been a disciplinary issue and it's being properly handled. Putting it in the public domain wouldn't help anyone.

So was our worst (Sheff Wed away - Moo2 as a sub). Basey probably was the worst performer amongst a sea of shit that day.

Basey's lack of pace and slow reflexes will always undo him at fullback. He's a winger's dream.

But as many have said, Basey does have a cultured left foot, stands big and strong, and reads the game reasonably well.

Maybe, the anchor role in centre midfield or even at centreback is where he will eventually settle, perhaps?

    No, No, No!

We have far better players in central midfield - Bailey, Racon, Holland, Shelvey, Wright etc are all better players than Basey. Basey will not make a career for himself at Charlton.....

I do think it'll be hard for him to ever get a regular place.

Doubt he'll be at his peak until his late 20s when he'll have a lot more experience and read the game even better to make up for his lack of pace. Not sure which position though, think he'll probably be moved around a bit.

Youga must be Paolo Maldini in training or something.

I thought Youga was okay yesterday, and on Tuesday as well.

Looked much better than he has in previous months. He's in a no win situation now though. He has no confidence and every time he does something wrong he knows the fans will get on his back.

He was clueless on tuesday, can't say for yesterday wasn't there. Not goalside countless times, and kept on showing players inside when he was miles away from his center half. An absolute waste of a name on the teamsheet. Most of his issues are not being present and be out of position constantly.

I've seen some donkeys since 1966 but that pair was pretty poor. Youga was lost and continually dived in and was taken to the cleaners every time .
He then failed to pick up his man. Butterfield was thinking ' wtf am I doing here' .
Hudson had a mare and Ward would not look out of place in Sutcliffe Park , add zero cover from Spring and you have 3 goals against.
  • Moo2 is young and has a lot of talent and ability (more in his little toe than Youga has in his whole body).

Amazed some people on here can't see that.

Defending is an art that can be learnt and improved with good coaching and application.

Moo2 will no doubt be a very good player somewhere one day.

Youga is a joke - the sooner he ends up playing in Charlton Park (about his level) the better

Why dont we switch to a 3-5-2 and play 3 centre backs. We got a wealth of midfielders and shit full backs. Wouldnt that work?
