Anybody else old enough to remember the bizarre Ronnie Ronalde whose speciality on radio and on music hall stage was imitating bird whistles but who also made a number of whistling records of things like The Ballad of Davy Crockett, You Always Hurt The One You Love etc? Wow, what a relief when Elvis burst on the scene and liberated us from stuff like that.

Wind of change - Scorpions
Centerfold - J Giles Band
Looking back Over my shoulder - Mike & the Mechanics
Uncle Albert - Paul McCartney

A Whistling Tune - Elvis Presley (Kid Galahad Film)
Been whistling this bloody tune ever since this thread started but couldn't think of who had the hit with it: then it suddenly popped to the surface when I was putting me boots on this morning:
Mouldy Old dough -- Lieutenant Pigeon (worth waiting for, eh?) No.1 in '72 I believe.

Imagine no Elvis. Would we still be listening to stuff like that now?
BTW Joe's enjoying Ship of Ghosts. Thanks again and good to meet you.
Many songs by a guy called Tom Brosseau, really worth a listen to for those cheery ones of us who listen to the likes of Leonard Cohen, Jeff Buckley, etc
