this is probably bollocks...but according to todays mirror

Newcastle are on the trail of Charlton wonderkid Jonjo Shelvey.

Charlton have slapped a £5m price tag on the 17-year-old.

Why would he want to go to Newcastle ...... when he can be playing in Europe with Rangers next season?

make it 7 and you have a deal, half the friendly debt paid off in better shape for a real take over. 10 would be better unlikly tho but i think its inevatable he will go just hope we dont get mugged off, anything less than 3 mil will be a kop out.

£5m and a big sell on fee for when he goes to a big club sounds fair to me.

It would be but there's always a difference between a rumoured "asking price" in a shitrag and reality. I'm not a fan of the sell on with so many players moving on loans and seeing out their contracts nowadays, I must admit I'd rather take less money now, but now I'm jumping a few moves ahead.

agree, if £5m was a 'real' fee and not £500k with add-ons that take years to have effect, then snap their hands off I'm afraid.

It's just paper bollocks anyway though

agree on both should be a £5m upfront and that it is just paper talk.

Whilst we all rate him, do you really think a 3rd Division midfielder with less than 20 starts to his name would go for 5m ???
If he was sold now, best we could probably get would be for about 1.5m with same again in add ons.
