Exeter - one for the older posters

An Exeter supporting work colleague has been talking about the last time he remembers Charlton playing away to Exeter in the league. He says that he thinks it was a game where the Charlton keeper nigh on threw the ball into his own net - anyone remember this game?

    sep 27th 1980 exeter 4 charlton 3. a few years before i was allowed to travel away.

    The first time I met this collegue - Charlton were on the verge of a UEFA place and Exeter were in the Conference and its now very possible that we will be locking horns next season. It's a funny old game .............................

    I didn't go but those who did said Jeff Wood had a 'mare - pretty sure Nicky Johns came in the next game and we set off on a long unbeaten run. May even have been Wood last game for us.
