Alex Keen, a Labour M.P. who says on his website that he spent 18 years working for Middlesborough, the club he supports, as a tactical scout, made what could only be described as a rambling speech as he delivered his organisation's report on Football governance on Monday evening. Excusing Sir Alex Ferguson's decision to field a weakened team in Sunday's FA Cup semi-final defeat to Everton, Keen explained that United were concentrating on the Champions League after "coming so close" last season.
