    why not?
  • You started it.

Whats wrong with the thread in terms of League 1 status and all that. To me when the fixtures come out and we see the season ahead that will be pretty damn significant.

I realise my answer was a little glib and a tad inadequate to put it mildly! (apologies for that) I do agree with the points you made. Working late, on the pc and between the serious bits I pop over to my beloved Charlton Life and read over this thread and see that our stripey cousins started it and have used it as a stick to beat us and the old blood starts to heat up a tad, then I remembered who Palace actually were and how much fun we've all had at their expense, took a chill pill and everythings fine now! Hence my submarine gesture. I acknowledge that the last few posts before my naval suggestion the addicks have put a more positive spin on matters. So perhaps my request was a little previous!
  • No on reflection I agree. sunk by a pilchard.

As it happens in my local yesterday after the match the Simpleton (I kid you not) of the Village (also a chelsea fan) was totally pissed out of his brain and wearing a Barca shirt collapsed on the ground hitting his head and was gently helped up by the co-operation of my goodself and a Palace fan. There a bit of humanity to end the season.

2 hours later said chelsea fan was fast asleep (sitting upwards) on the village bench.

Isn't it better just not to reply to anything they post on here?

    Say nothing.

Just let them start a thread with one post on it eternally. Unless they write to themselves like real saddos.

To Churley, Budgie and any other Nigels on here, before you get too cocky, just be aware that your enjoyment at our demise could probably only last a year. We'll have a good chance of coming back up and passing you on the way.
You took 17 points from 21 games from boxing day onwards. Carry that into next season and with a young team, no money, poor support, a manager in his last year, a chairman who wants out and a ground you don't own and you could be well and truly f*cked.

I prefer to take things as they happen, such as Palace still being in the Championship, and Charlton in League One, so as you say, we will enjoy it while we can. It's nice to see you're confident you'll be coming back up, were you the same two years ago?

Next season is still 3 months away, and many things will happen in that time, so it would be foolish to try and predict what sort of season either team will have. One thing in Palaces favour is that they have an experienced manager in Neil Warnock, who will hopefully be replacing a lot of the deadwood who will now have played there last games for us.

Charlton will also see a lot of movement in and out, and it will be interesting to see how they perform, but remember just because you have won the FA cup, doesn't automatically gain you promotion, you will have to earn it. I remember a lot of Charlton fans thought they would be leaving the Chamionship, in a more optimistic way, when they were last relegated.

I certainly don't see Palace been promoted next season, but providing we keep the majority of our young players, we certainly wont be relegated.

When will it hit me? When the stripy numpties don't bother coming here on a wind up because they've decided we're no longer worthy of their attention.

I suspect I may be in denial for some time.

Budgie, you are quite right. Things are as they are and the laugh is on us at the moment.

We've had 10 or more good years and we made the most of it. Now we need to accept that we are going to get some back.

No one can see the future or if the two clubs can change places next season. My gut feel is that we will have our turn to gloat again and sooner than some Palace fans may expect but who can tell.

but I do know that we Charlton fans can wait. We had to wait a long time for "we'll never play you again" and "Sha la la la la" and as they say revenge is a dish best eaten cold.

Don't encourage him Henry, for Gawds sake. Otherwise he'll be on here all summer, the poor friendless fellow.

Good luck to the nigels having their little crow. Something tells me though that we'll be singing 'who the f*ck is laughing now' back at them sooner than they think.

I don't mind Budgie. He has a sly dig but it's OK.

loads of palace fans signed up on here before the league game at the Valley in anticipation of their win but never posted for some reason.

    Now that is funny.

Exactly, nothing wrong with a bit of banter now and then.

True, he does actually seem quite reasonable

When shall we two meet again in League, Championship or Prem? When the takeovers done, when the battle 's lost and won

Henry, if I came on here and said how sorry I felt for Charlton, and I was convinced that they'd return stronger than ever, then that would be wierd as off_it says. As you say I do put the sly dig in, but try to keep it reasonable, I could give it large, and get abusive, but all that would happen would be I would be banned, and rightly so.

I do enjoy coming on here, it's a good site, and most of the posters are reasonable, obviously I'm not welcomed by one and all, but I hope by keeping the digs to a minimum, its recognised as banter.

Which seems to make sense, Simon Jordan being the illegitimate offspring of a tangerine and a bottle of Ambre Solaire and all.

My girlfriend yesterday named one of our cats Hamish Macbeth. Now this. Weird.
