LATEST POLL: Should we be demanding more information ?

Be interested in people's views on this.

Lots of talk of a perceived news blackout at the club regarding the status of any takeover bid / approaches, the status of the manager etc.

So, should we as fans be demanding more ?

Don't think there's anything to say regards possible takeover

However I would like a current boardroom statement on who's in charge of team affairs

Guess we might not find out til pre-season training starts in a couple of weeks.
  • I think that we should realistically wait until the team resume for pre-season training for some real news. When it comes to actually coaching the players for the new season I would hope we have some clarity on Parkinson's position by then.
However as far an any takeover goes i think we should carry on as if nothing is happening. If it happens it happens but we're not going to know about it until it does anyway. I dont think on this issue the club has any duty to tell anyone anything..... especially after the Zabeel situation.

Voted no as don't want another Zebeel but would like more on the Managerial situation even though I think the two are linked.

    It depends on the subject.

If takeover talks are happening, I don't want the board to say a word until it's done. If takeover talks are not taking place, I'd wish the board would say so. They must be aware of the rumours, and could put us out of our misery with a one paragraph article on the OS.

The manager situation is difficult at the moment as it's linked to the above. If talks are happening it's impossible for them to say anything. If there are no talks they should have come out and backed/sacked Parky by now.

It seems to me that the current silence points to takeover talks. When it happens/falls through we'll hear a lot more in a short period of time.

They are not keeping us in the dark for fun, I would rather it was all sorted rather risking it being in the public which could add complications

With regard to a possible takeover I am in the No camp. You have to keep your cards close to your chest until you have played your hand, else risk coming unstuck and we have already witnessed that.

From the club's perspective I can't see that there is anything to be gained by them giving us a running commentary of the talks (assuming there are any).

If something is going on then I understand why they are being so quiet. Would be nice to know what Parkinsons position is though.

No from me for now - as long as something is resolved by the time the team are back for pre-season. After that continuing in limbo would be farcical and damaging.

I voted no although the paradox is that I'd rather hear something but understand the need for silence at present. I have a similar view to Henry regarding the managers position but with the two linked, accept that we may not hear about that until the first matter is resolved.

I said yes. With reagrd to Parky I can see no reason why they can't clarify his position especially as the rumours are that he has already cleared his desk. With regard a takeover, which must be happening otherwise things like Parky would be resolved by now, I can't see why a short statement just saying that negotiations in connection with a takeover of the Club/fresh investment are continuing and further details will be announced in due course. If it falls through we'd all be gutted again but seeing as we all think it's happening anyway then we are still going to be gutted. On the flip side I also can't see that a statement like that would harm negotiations.

Agree with all of that tbh

I understand why they won't say anything about the takeover, makes perfect sense.

Surely either way that joke Parkinson is on the way out, so why not cheer us all up and at least let us know!!

No news is good news so I've joined the very sensible 70-something per cent who have voted 'no'.

As Stu says, they could certainly cheer everybody up by announcing PP's departure now, though. Don't accept his future is linked to the successful compeletion of the takeover talks. Under the old board, new board or any board, he's not even fit to manage our non-league reserve team friendlies at Sparrows Lane next season.

I heard about a month ago that Kins had cleared his stuff. Someone (Rodex i think) posted last week that it was said at the charity game that Parky had cleared his desk.

I do understand the point of view of those who support the club's stance of apparently not commenting until there is something concrete to report in case it jeopardises a potential buyout. Obviously I will be delighted if the news blackout is followed by an announcement that Mr Varney's consortium has taken control of the club.

However, I also think that we are entitled to know who the identity of any potential new owners before a deal is completed rather than after the event. Let's say for arguments sake that Ron Noades has put together a rival consortium to buy the club. Would you not want to know before any deal was completed so that, if necessary, you could protest and try and prevent the deal from going through, or at least demonstrate your disapproval?
