    I remember reading some time back when he was a regular in the England squad that his Villa contract was like £3k per week. Everyone around him was earning £40k+ but he was still on his first pro deal that spanned for 5 years and he never got a pay rise!
    He never moaned about it in the press or anything so fair play to him...

    Vassells England record is fairly decent from what I remember, sure he scored a fine goal against Holland on debut, a crucial goal in the Euro qualifiers against Turkey and went to two major tournaments.

    Not a bad player, just never scored enough goals or utilised his pace enough. Interested to see how well he does at Championship level.
