nothing to do with the bnp on them but just how quickly things change. but if i did have anything to say on the matter it's that griffin and co are a bunch of bellends.
Know threads sunk, but very valid point. My Brother in law is currently weeking employment in NZ after being made redundant. He's highly qualified/ex RAF Communications specialist and he cannot get anything. He's either over qualified or his face doesn't fit.
The grass isn't always greener.
For the record - Griffin is a vicious little shitbag. I'd willingly let off the torpedo to sink any boat he sails in.
For the record if ever a student or one of their "reps" attempts to hand me any sort of leaflet re who or who i shouldnt vote for i will force feed them with it .
[cite]Posted By: valleygary[/cite]I think we need to take a leaf out of Australia's immigration control. They house any asylum seekers on Christmas Island, where they are assesed for safety and security checks, before being allowed into the country. Those who are not deemed fit or have no legitimate reason to enter the country are simply sent home. On average they only have 13,000 immigrants per year!...i wouldnt even like to think what we have!
If our controls were tighter, there would be no friction between them and UK nationals, therefore the BNP would receive nowhere near the same votes and people like Nick Griffin would just crawl back under the rock they came from. Simples! http://www.voanews.com/english/2009-06-29-voa22.cfm
Erm, I don't know if you've looked at a map recently but Australia is just a little bit more difficult to access than the UK geographically. The only way (apart from plane) to get into the country is via a 10-day boat ride across the Timor Sea from Indonesia in one of the most dangerous maritime channels in the world full of not just pirates but of Tiger Sharks and huge Saltwater Crocodiles once you get near land.
As a result Australia has one of the lowest illegal immigration rates in the world - simply because it is so hard to get here.
The real issue here (and its tiny compared to Europe) is not people coming in by boat - that is only a tiny trickle - but people who come by plane on legal visas/documentation and the overstay their Visa and try and remain here illegally. Guess who the biggest culprits for doing this are? Brits, Yanks and South Africans.
In addition, don't believe all this nonsense about Australia re-patriating all of the Christmas Island asylum seekers - it simply does not happen very often at all. Most times these people (who come from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afhanistan, Iraq amongst other places) are found to be genuine asylum seekers and are allowed to stay in the country.
Sometimes the boat people do get sent home but that does not happen very often and is a very lengthy process, more often than not they get TPV's and end up settling here.
FYI the UK Government HAS recently introduced a "points" based immigration system similar to that used here in Oz and have seriously tightened up their Visa policy.
Several Aussie sportspeople with relatively minor criminal convictions have been refused entry to the UK to play for UK Rugby League teams, most notably Greg Bird and Michael Crocker.

Does not help matters re the case of Mr Bird, though glassing your girlfriend in the face may be minor in other counties.

Yes, fair enough Bird was a bad example. Crocker and Greg Eastwood are better examples, they both have minor offences on their cards (pub fights basically) and got turned down by the UK government for work permits.
Bird got turned down by the UK.....but accepted by the French!

Up north it's perfectly accetpable ;-)
In actual fact, Bird's girlfriend did not seem to mind either. Bizarrely they have reconciled and she was a character witness for him in his trial!!! The Judge did not buy it though and sent him down, although he is still out on appeal.
