[cite]Posted By: Off_it[/cite]WTF - anyone else's goals round up just cut out for 20 seconds to a woman sitting on the khazi?!
Just watching the programme now, recorded last night. Yes, I got this too, had to err, rewind it to check this had really happened.....best part of the programme!!!!

How far in did that occur, i rushed through it and watched parts only, so didn't catch the bird on bog bit??

I, too, would like to know the answer to this.
  • Apparently the 'toilet break' was from whatever programme was being shown on ITV at the time and it somehow managed to infiltrate onto the Beeb's airwaves. Most unusual.
Didn't mind the programme. As long as I get to see the goals I'm happy. And we should get slightly extended highlights of 'between 2-5 minutes' online from Monday which is more than we ever got from ITV.

Hahaha! Someone in the master control obviously found the Football League Show a bit underwhelming, started watching ITV, and pressed the wrong button....

Years ago, this happened during one of Richard Littlejohn's chat shows on LWT. Remember the old Sky boxes that also included German channels? Someone at LWT got bored of Littlecock, started watching a porn film on RTL, and pressed the wrong button...
  • 5/6 minutes from the end..........
  • I thought it was ok for the first attempt at covering 70+ teams and better than ITV's garbage. Agree totally about the woman and the email's nonsense and suspect her days are numbered when the focus groups report back. Claridge is more comfortable on the radio but I think will be ok.

Let's get it in perspective peep's we are now in the THIRD division. How many minutes of coverage did you think we were going to get in comparison to an opening day fixture between two recently relegated Premiership teams?
  • I thought it was a pretty good show and at least they're taking the Football League seriously. But you're never going to please everyone. Especially on here.
  • It could have been a lot worse.

Basically, it is a translation of the Radio 5 football analysis and comment (i.e 606) in TV format. Give them a chance and I'm sure it will get better - especially when everyone stops wetting themselves about Newcastle United....
  • We should all e mail them next week, telling them to stop asking for e mails :-)
  • Agreed, as was said before, what is all this about needing the constant drip-feed of inane viewer content?

I would rather listen to someone who knows what they are talking about professionally!

Stop the e-mails, but keep the bird. She is easy on the eye......

  • You little s**t Ambrose. Not only do you steal my thoughts/posts but my one then gets sunk and yours is now onto it's second page - DAMN YOU!
    ;o)
I don't care - am keeping my sunk one going anyway.
  • I thought the programme was a shambles from start to finish. Holloway has been told he's funny one time too many so plays the eccentric role a bit too try-hard, Claridge talks in a monotone voice while stating the bleeding obvious and the presenters all seem like they're off Blue Peter. It felt more like a Channel 5 production, although that's possibly being unkind to Channel 5.

Still, extended highlights on the BBC website sounds like the best option to me, or iplayer so I can skip the talking bits... not watching it again live anyway, that's for sure.

(also on the subject of emails - they are the most boring thing on 606/Talksport.. they should man up and have phone calls if they really want viewer interaction.. but bet they never would because they'd be too scared of someone swearing or pointing out how **** the show is...)

It happened in the latter part of the programme, around 10-15mins from the end? I think they were showing the league 2 goals at the time.......I'd recorded it and thought it'd run out, until the goals came back on again!!!
  • The website isn't too much better. The referee of today's Community Shield was Chris Hoy, what a joke...

  • I thought it was dire. I hate it when the commentary runs ahead of the action - don't tell us before we've even seen the build-up that such and such then went on the equalise...almost every game was like that. From that point of view it was WORSE than ITV - and that's saying something...

Had an old-timers moment this morning. Nearly 'phoned my son at Sky (he does something there) to complain that our game hadn't been shown in their Championship round-up. Then, all of a sudden I remembered why! BBC programme: f*****g awful, treat people and teams outside the Prem. like morons! As for Torquay, as the man said,' it was an eye-catching opener'.

I agree with March51 in as much as a lot of the media feel the need to treat fans of Football League clubs like dribbling imbeciles that need help going to the toilet and that no one should ever give them sharp objects in case they poke their own eyes out by accident. As if everyone who supports a club in the Premier League is somehow more intelligent, richer and of a different social class altogether. As if the act of supporting any football club could define any of those things! Yet the media continually have to get out the finger puppets where the other 72 clubs are concerned (I can understand it for Millwall fans- but for everyone else???!!!)
  • Cottee...... git
  • When you ask most people what they like about BBC sports coverage they always go on about 1) Sporting Institutions (generally people like Motty, who knew nothing about the game 40 years ago and have been getting steadily more out of touch since) and 2) it's better than ITV.

Sadly in the case of this show I actually think it's not as good the effort that ITV used to run on a Saturday morning (or Monday night if you're old-school). Sadly, the advent of other sports broadcasters has done nothing but highlight how piss-poor the BBC is.

    'Little'? Have we met? :o)

Anyway - your post was pants. You only made mention of the cave. Mine had extra insights about the Beeb's infatuation with Noocarsil. So there.

Newcastle United must be one of football's least interesting but much most wanked over clubs in the games long History! I can see nothing- absolutely nothing about them that merits a 2nd glance and suspect that I am not alone in this assumption.
  • I never saw what the problem was with the ITV coverage apart from the presenter and his... inexplicable pausing... in the middle... of... sentences. It was an hour long, showed all the goals from 3 divisions and had next to no pointless analysis - I don't need an ex-pro to tell me that someone who has scored from 30 yards 'hit it well'. Nor can the likes of Pardew embarrass themselves with inappropriate analogies.

You love that word analogy/analogies don't you dabos!
  • i saw this too lol was so radom!
  • Can't stop laughing - one of tonight's emails from a Norwich fan is suggesting Dowie for their new manager
  • did anyone else think steve claridges haircut looks like adolf hitler?

I'd be pleased with it. ;(
  • First game on, Newcastle V Reading. Good thing you can fast forward on the iplayer.
  • That's what I was thinking, are we going to have a season of having Newcastle first on the show just because they're ex-Premiership? Soooooooooo boring...
  • Haven't watched the Saturday night programme yet, but have to say that I'm pretty impressed by the highlights being available on the BBC website, and not just through the iPlayer.

Just watched the piece on Saturday's game, and the two minute package is about as good as we used to get on Match of the Day sometimes.
