I didnt think he had his best game, but he was still head and shoulders above most players!!!

It's always interesting to read what you have to say Uncle. I think you'll find that a lot of peoples opinions of Jonjo's performance were and will continue to be based on high expectations. I personally didnt think he had a good game.... but he doesnt hide and yes he still got 2 assists. I have high expectations of the lad and I hope we play him every game while we still have him. He and Racon would be my first 2 names on the teamsheet. But to look at it another way the stats were a cross opinion of 47 of us. Its just opinions but people are entitled to say how they read the game. Its not a personal slight on Jonjo and I think you'd find anyone who believed he should be dropped would be a quiet voice amongst a lot of disagreement. I do think he should keep an eye on his temper sometimes. I've seen him react a few times to challenges. Personally I find it quite funny because he always seems to pick up a huge centre back when he does it. But really when it comes to the crunch Jonjo is our star at the Valley and I dont think many people would disagree with that.

i thought this to loking at the polls. i thought he played well in the first half . However i must admit he had a poor second half out on the wing but why was he on the wing . i think i gave him a 7 in my rating .

Uncle i think you're overreacting a little to some of the criticism. Did Jonjo have an amazing game? No. Did Jonjo have a terrible game? No. He had an alright game and managed to set up a couple of goals. (I gave him a seven ;0)) Part of the problem is that we're over expectant on what we expect Jonjo to do and so it follows that he's constantly under the microscope, and i'm afraid he (and you) will have to get used to it. Jonjo is not the complete player and won't be for a couple of years i expect, so he will have days when he doesn't dazzle like he has in other games and i'm sure those will often be days that he learns from. I think your presence on here will mean that some people will feel they can't express a critical eye on Jonjo and your post perhaps gives that some backing. Although i do think a small amount of the criticism was very harsh, i didn't get the impression that everyone was down on Jonjo, and on every forum you will get differing views. I'm afraid you'll just have to get used to brushing off the negative comments and be confident that the plaudits will far outweigh the number of derogatory remarks Jonjo will have over his career. Jonjo is a great young player and a star at our club but he is as open to review as any other player in Charlton colours. Just be grateful you're Jonjo's uncle and not Youga's! Up the Addicks!

although just to add uncle, i didnt think ppl were criticising him at all. he just a got a few average ratings which we are all entitled to our own opinions(on that note i didnt rate them as missed the game)

but if shelvey has a shocker on tuesday at orient(not that he did against wycombe)- which i will be going 2, i for 1 will post my honest opinion doesnt matter what you say on this forum you are always going to get some negativity and u have to accept it when its due, fair enough if underserved fight your cause as u have done here but i think he had good more good ratings then bad on here imho :-)

What others have said, it's because of the expectations. It's great to see he never hides and still provides two assists when he's not at his best. For me he still has to play, he just didn't have a great game, still worked hard and set up two goals.

I expect more mistakes and less intelligent play from the likes of Youga and McLeod, and that's down to expectations because of their performances in the past. I can't remember now, but I might have given them higher ratings than Jonjo, but that's down to me having very little expectations of them.

The lad had a bad game, still looking forward to watching him play next match, because he is more than likely to be back on his game, which is very good.

Good grief, give the lad some slack. He is a human being, Im certain that he gives his best whenever he pulls on the shirt...unlike some of the overpaid tossers we have employed in the last few years. Football is like every other profession...you have good days and you have bad days and in betweeny days. If JJ was a super hero...then fair enough, but the boy is 17 years old and I think he is a credit to his family and the club. However, Uncle......can you imagine the crap he would get if he moved to a club like Spurs for instance? By the way, was nice to see him taking the time to talk to people after the game on Saturday, lets hope he never loses that trait.....Bet he is as proud as punch with his new car as well.......Id have given my right arm at his age for a decent motor.

We need to get behind all the players and the manager and support them all. Even if things aren't going well we need to all try and stay positive. Football is after all, like many things, a confidence game.

Yep i was ridicuosly early for the game (brother wanted to buy the new shirt - thought there would be a stampede) and Jonjo stopped to talk to me and others on his way into the ground and seemed humble and not too big for his boots at all. At the end of the day Jonjo's our start player, expectations of him are through the ceiling but due to his age he isn't going to consistently live up to the high standards he's set himself.
