Charlton hope to record back to back league victories for the first time since Noah emptied his Arc, while Hartlepool will be confident after an encouraging point away to fancied MK Dons.

With all the defenders now passed fit, only Sam and Shelvey appear to be doubts. What changes would you make if they don't make it, and how do you see it going ?

Can't see us not conceeding and can't see us scoring more than one. That makes it 1-1 in my view.

2 away clean sheets for them against decent sides, including a victory over Coventry. Hard to be too optimistic.
  • A draw will probably be a decent result for us.

    1-1.

Shelvey's fit just had a slight heel/ankle injury from blocking a shot against wycombe but fine now

Close game that I see us sneaking 2-1.

Team will be the same as against Wycombe. We'll go one down in the first 15 but then power over them with a goal beofre half time then another around the 65-70 minute mark.

Shelvey and Gray will be the goalscorers.

i know you should not judge anything early doors, but i think this will be a good indicator to see if this team has a bit more backbone to last season.

As i said in the blog, turning it on at home at a nice sunny Valley is one thing, digging it out on the road is another, and i'm not sure yet we've got enough about us for those sort of performances.

Anyone know much on Hartlepool ? Physical team / footballing team ?
  • draw for me. even if we manage to score.

Don't know much about them, but pre-season they were one of the favourites for relegation.

I'm gonna be optomistic and if we can pile on the early pressure, like we did against Wycombe, and get a goal, I see us winning 3-1.

Bailey, Burton and Shelvey to score
    Brown for Hartlepool

Its the pits of the earth/ They play direct with wingers and are quite physical. I think our defence will need to be in top form for lots of balls into the box. Dailey will need another good game
  • 3-1 to Charlton, can see the midfield dominating this game.

If I'd left after an hour last saturday, I'd have this down as a win. But...when Wycombe upped it we fell apart like last year and I think 'Pool are a better team than Wycombe at the moment. It's not just about Dailly and Llera dealing with the high ball, the midfield needs to do more to get the ball back when we lose it. A point would be a good result.

Agee with Big William, a draw will be a good result. Personally, I think we are still too lightweight and I am expecting us to get beaten.

Who would you say from our starting 11 against Wycombe is lightweight? No one stands out to me. I know some people will say Sam, but we need him (or a player like him) in the team, but apart from him no one stands out to me as too lightweight.

This is a stern test and representative of what we face this season.
The key for us is not to get physically outfought and pressed back.
Our inability to 'nick goals' will count against us unless we dominate possesion , but a wake up 1-3 sorry to say.

If Hartlepool is this massive test that people seem to be going on about then i'm seriously worried about our prospects this season.
  • This is Hartlepool. Long Ball rubbish.
0-4 Charlton all over it I reckon.
    Shelvey, Racon, Semedo & Sam.

This will be our 1st match this season and I reckon on

    0-0

as so far they seem to have a good defence but can't score and we don't have any scoring strikers and our mid-field will be defending more than attacking.

    3/0 Hartlepool

    Adam Boyd hat trick

McLeod sent off, Park resigns, Nigerian oil millionaires take over and give Curbs £50m to spend.

His first signing is Jonathan Spector, as he can do a job anywhere along the back four.

My heart says a draw but my head says the monkey hangers will nick it 2-1. Ultimately a lack of firepower up front will be our biggest problem. Jeff Stelling and his dancing James Brown doll will be well happy.

    .........

Or for the first time since last week - we beat Norwich last match of last season...

Charlton away win, with the usual late goal conceded to keep us waiting.

    Unchanged side from last week.
