RIP Dick (Dickie) Dyckhoff...(Addick since 1937'ish) ex Roan.

My dear neighbour Dickie (aged 79) has passed away..such a lovely guy, very very young at heart, a real gent.
He lived about two minutes walk from The Valley during the war and was blown out of his bed by the bomb which blew up Charlton Station....it damaged his hearing somewhat and scarred his face.
He was alone in the house at the time and staggered all by himself straight to the Liberal Club to get treated and actually ended up at the chemists opposite (now Tottys the chemists) where he had his wounds dressed, he would have been around 13 at the time.He remembers one poor soul who lay dead right outside The Conservative Club all his clothing had been blown off............what a trauma for one so young.
There are plans to scatter some of his ashes at The Valley and some in his beloved Maldives, where he spent many a happy holiday with his lovely wife Sue....he was there only recently.
Regular in The Anglesey Arms in Bromley North (where he organised the quiz nights), as well as The Ramblers(Chislehurst) after every home match with his brother in law Steve.
First went to The Valley circa 1936/37, his mum would take him and she too was an avid Addick.
I have been set the task by his wife Sue to source a Billy Cotton version of The Red Red Robin on CD to be played at the funeral, if you can help please whisper me.

There just might be one or two folk on here that knew Dickie..........his funeral is next Tuesday 25th at Beckenham Crematorium followed by drinks at The Anglesey.

I was fortunate to meet Dickie on a few occasions he was indeed a genuine nice guy.
My brother knows him very well.
He will be missed.
