Interesting FACT(?) from yesterday

Bed bound and ridden with disease I was unable to get to the Valley yesterday so I logged onto CAFCTV and watched a stream as I listened to the commentary. Early on in the game the co-commentator, a Brentford fan apparently, started going on about being overawed by this multi-million pound stadium and little Brentford playing this huge side which was purchased for millions. The commentator (a woman, I can't remember her name) said, well actually the whole stadium cost about 20 million quid to which her colleague expressed his suprise. Then she laid in with her killer FACT.. "and of the starting eleven only two players have been bought, the rest were all loan signings or were brought in on a free!"

I've been thinking about it but I cannot remember who we bought and who we signed on a free. Nicky Bailey was brought in by Pardew, who was the other one? And is this FACT correct?

    I instantly figured Bailey as one but after going through the line-up I am not sure who else we paid for!

    Semedo or Racon maybe?

    No.. just had a look, Burton was a free.

    We signed Bailey for £750000 (bargin!) from Southend. I've got a feeling it was Racon

    I know I'm answering my own thread here but I've done a bit of research and it seems the commentating lady was bang on:

    Elliot; Youth.
    Richardson: Free from Leeds United
    Youga: Free from Olympique Lyonnais
    Dailly: Free from Dundee
    Llera: Free from MK Dons
    Sam: Youth
    Semedo: Free from Sporing Clube de Portugal
    Racon: 550,000 euros from Olympic Marseille
    Shelvey: Youth
    Bailey: £750 000
    Burton: Free from Sheffield Wednesday

    Which means that our starting line up for the first 6 games of the season has cost

    £1 229 904.

    Or even almost a quarter of Jason Euell (remember him?) fee - I wonder if he is still playing for Soton and would be in the team tomorrow??
