For all you glass half empties, after Tuesday's results we have now played 5 teams in the top half and 5 in the bottom half.
Colchester, Norwich, Brentford, Walsall and Hartlepool.

And just to add a bit of equilibrium for all the half full merchants, we've played 5 of the bottom 6 and only one team in the Top 8.0 -
We played Brentford when they were 6th though?

put it this way the average finishing postiion at the end of the season of the teams we have played so far WILL be below halfway ..... we've had an easy start and that's a FACT....average current positions of teams played so far is 15.5 FACT0

Assuming we finish in the top half, the average position of all the other teams in the league will be below halfway at the end of the season.0 -
As long as we only play one team that finishes in the top two, I'll be happy0

Or put another way, the teams we have played this season (and I've given Southampton 9 points for the purpose of this exercise) have amassed a total of 110 points from 100 games or the equivalent of 1.1 points per game.
That equates to a season's total of just under 51 points i.e. the average of the teams we've played this season is 18th or 19th judging by the points total for the Division in the last decade.
Having said all of that you can only beat what's put in front of you ;-)0 -
I struggle to understand what the relevance of where teams we have played are in the table.
Are we just looking for ways to pick apart the good start to the season we've had?
Why not just enjoy it rather than look for reasons not to?0 -

I'd like to think that some of the comments on here add a touch of realism rather than negativity.
In the same way is it negative to say that certain players were awful on Tuesday? Or should we keep quiet about that too?
In fact, let's just make this one big group hug of a forum and ban anything that doesn't have a totally positive spin on the Club.
Oh and after Saturday I suspect that we will no longer be in the Top Two....doh there I go again.0 -

I thought we did very well.....
Shelvay frced a great save as did beckford...
when we passed it we looked a very solid unit... I think id we keep sodje fit(and if he keeps doing leg plants on peoples backs) we will go up.... we would have battered most other teams today...
I also think Parkinson is quite cool....
and I saw him screaming I-Zale .... so he pronounces it I-Zale...
so Im glad that has been cleared up....
Izale to score teice next week against Oldham....

Losing 1 in 11, played three of the promotion canididates away from home. Happy with that.0

Let's go back to one of Curb's pearls of wisdom in the Prem.
He used to describe three leagues in the one Division.He would always describe our games against top three sides as ' bonus ball'.He also pointed it that Man Utd's success was sometimes due to how they dispatch the lower placed sides and avoided defeat against their rivals. Let's apply this logic to League One.It was no accident that Man U was the one scalp Curb's never got for us.
In our first CCC season 2 points out of a possible 12 from Colchester and Scunny cost us a possible play off place . and fourth.
I've divided this league into four
Big Clubs with crowds and recent pedigree : Charlton , Leeds , Norwich , Southampton (Fortunatly their 10 point deduction rules them out as automatic promotion contenders ,but they may sneak the play offs ).
Clubs who have potential to compete at CCC level and will be there or thereabouts for play off positions :Colchester,MK Dons,Huddersfield ,Oldham , Millwall,Swindon, Bristol R, Brentford.
Clubs who could strike lucky and go on a run but are probably bottom half and look down rather than up : Walsall, Hartlepool,Gillingham,Southend,Stockport ,Yeovil,Carlisle,Exeter, Orient.
Clubs who I believe will have a long season Brighton,Tranmere,Wycombe
Therefore I believe we are on course as we have a 100% record to the third and fourth category teams and played and remained undeafted against the first category sides.0 -

As you can see, no one wants us to lose, ever. We have a lot of passionate fans that understand football a bit better than others and have been seeing mistakes being made once again and have spent some efforts to let other people see that everything hasn't been quite as rosy as some would believe for some time this season,even when we were winning all those weeks ago.

We haven't had the start we had last year and have played, in our first 11 games, Teams that are currently in 4th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 12th, 17th, 18th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd & 24th i.e. 6 of the bottom 8.
In a funny sort of way though, from an attacking perspective, I do believe that we actually have something to build on which I never really felt we had last year. Of course if Mr Youga and young Solly were to get over their injuries then we really would be a force on the flanks and that would help us to turn some of these draws (especially at home) into wins.0 -
When I get asked how are Charlton doing from Prem supporting friends, my statement is if the team clicks then we can go up so much of this side is newly assembled and if we are going to go up we are going to have to go on a proper run 10 games undefeated and a high percentage of wins that can start at any time up to January as long as we remain in touch of the top positions/play offs which we currently are. So some patience remains required.0

The next five games will be pretty tough, Brighton and Wednesday at home and Peterborough, Swindon and Carlisle away. The equivalent games last season only netted 3 points. (For Wednesday read Norwich, for Peterborough read Millwall)0
