[quote][cite]Posted By: ColinTat[/cite]Like second top assist maker in league one Shelvey? Who's free kicks and corners have created four goals?[/quote]
no, like someone that actually scores goals from free kicks, picks a top right hand or left hand corner and plants it in there...
[quote][cite]Posted By: Elthamaddick[/cite] have a go.[/quote]
a phrase that every footballer should have in mind when in sight of goal...beats me why anyone would not want to try their luck if they have the ball and can see the goal...fans always applaud an attempt at goal...
[cite]Posted By: ken from bexley[/cite]Bailey scored a great free kick at the Barnet game.......
Tuna has a good free kick as well , but has to be on the park in the first place!
I get the impression that Shelvey is regarded as the freekick/corner taker.
As Giggs recently stated I never had much of a chance before Becks and Ronaldo at Man Utd, so it is not just Charlton.......
Shelvey for dead ball delivery (when on the pitch) Bailey for shots on goal, imo. Unless you have a Juninho or Beckham on your hands, you're average 'free kick specialist' will rarely score more than about 3 direct free kicks a season - not really enough of a contribution to justify picking one for that reason alone.
Borrowdale seems decent from wide areas but in terms of direct efforts on goal- Reid looks the part. If not, would like to see Sam take them as he scored a decent one against Stockport a couple of years back and be is getting closer with his efforts from outside the box.
Llera looks to have the best dead ball shot on him, but tbh I think I'd rather we didn't bother shooting most of the time and tried to be a bit more creative, I mean, how often have we worked the keeper with a free kick this season? Try and sneekinly slip a runner in through the inside right/left channel or shift it 10 yards sidways for a shot that isn't blocked by the wall or something like that. With the 2 Sodjes and also possibly people like Llera I'd have thought we'd stand a better chance of scoring by whiping in a good cross - we've certainly scored from more corners than direct free kicks.

Llera's got a superb free kick on him ....... not only can he place the ball, but he can thunderbolt it like El Kak used to.
Couple of free kicks I've seen Llera take - one piledriver brought a magnificent save at Yeovil, which resulted in Akpo firing the rebound into the net; given offside despite the goalkeeper being last player to play the ball.
And at Exeter last week, keeper beaten all ends up but struck the post.
[cite]Posted By: Ru1986[/cite]Just someone who can cross the ball well would be nice.
Like Richardson or Borrowdale?
How many times was the ball put across the leeds box on saturday and how many times was it cleared with no result too many times is the answer. This may not be that we have not got a decent crosser of the ball but also because we dont have anyone who can finish and generally we are weak in the air but its ok just keep playing long ball football and we will learn in the end.
For us to have a free kick specialist, Nicky Bailey would have to let someone else take them for once. Basey when fit is our best option, but at the moment I would opt for Kyel Reid over Bailey on free kicks as well as a place in the starting XI.

Personally I'd like to see Racon have a go.

Basey and Shelvey, too.
I remember him scoring one last season as well. Struggling to think who was the last player to score from a free-kick before that
This is a good point. No one springs to mind really. Andy Reid perhaps?
He scored a deflected one at Stoke away. Before that, I guess it was El Karkouri.

Our corners are noticably better since the full backs started taking them as well.
didnt we have a young kid who could take them oh yeah but he's gone now
Looks like we have found our man for FK's around the box.
Agreed
parky better start him then otherwise we need to wait till 70 mins
