    Just on way back from this. Was rent-a-crowd for the evening with a certain Juve fan from this board! Fulham were brilliant but Juve were absolutly horrendous, 10 men or not. Their manager deployed the worst tactics I've ever seen (parky included guys!), they just left themselves exposed down the wings and basically played without full backs. Fulham were always going to win it. All I could think of while watching fulham fans going crazy was 'this couldve been us.' sigh....

    The idea that Al Fayed has stopped throwing money at them is a fiction. They'd be dead without him.

    They're as bad as the other club in SW6 - and really should be where we are now, struggling in their natural home of the third division.

    It boils my piss that they landed Roy Hodgson. Yeah, they're "living the dream" - as soon as Hodgson goes, they'll fall like a turd in a Glastonbury shit-pit.

    I love the analogy! There were rumours after Curbs departed that we looked at Hodgson but turned to Davies and the Dowie. If that was true, boy was that a big mistake.

    I think that Hodgson will be the next England manager after Capello, assuming he is not contract tied with one of the biggest clubs.

    I am sad for us, but pleased for them, with or without Al Fayeds dosh and especially pleased for Hodgson.

    Also i read that after the game the Juve coach was attacked as it left the ground................by the Juve supporters!

    Paul Martyn Konchesky (born 15 May 1981 in Barking, Greater London) is a professional English football player currently playing for Fulham in the left-back position. Konchesky is known for having lots of pace, a great work rate and for his attacking style of play.

    Konchesky joined West Ham United in July 2005[8] for a fee of £1.5 million.

    After leaving West Ham, Konchesky criticised manager Alan Curbishley, claiming that he made the players unhappy.[14])

    In the summer of 2005 we were hopefully looking forward to another Premier League season under Curbs. We hoped that this season we would really try not to fade away in the second part of the season, and that with Darren Bent firing us on, we might even finally challenge for Europe. I still personally dreamed of welcoming everybody to Prague when we drew a Czech team in the UEFA cup. Not too many people lamented the sale of Paul Konchesky although i did. I thought he'd been badly treated by Curbs, and it was a waste of home grown talent. But others said he's just a Championship level left half. I wasn't so sure that they were wrong. There seemed like bigger issues around.

    Who could imagine, less than five years later, that we would be in the Third Division; that Curbs would be one of the long term unemployed, and that Paul Martin Konchesky, one of the first names on the team sheet, would be basking in the 4-1 slaughter of Juventus - JUVENTUS! - as part of a team and club demonstrably smaller in every respect than Charlton were in 2005.

    And the moral of this story? That we should pause with a little humility and reflect that none of here know jack about how to achieve success in professional football. Absolutely jack.

    I'm with Stonemuse on this - makes me feel sick and angry when I see them where we could have been. Envy is not a very nice emotion, but I can;t help it. Must be even worse for Richard Murray and co.

    In Hreidarsson and Powell though we had better at the time. He might not have improved drastically but he's surely matured as a player and is a little more reliable than he was.

    I would have liked him to stay but he had always performed well as a midfielder for us and less convincing as a left back. It wouldn't have been right to give him an automatic place in the team just to encourage him to stay.

    I still think he's just a good Premier League left back, it's not like we let a future England star go. I don't think he's got to quite the level Luke Young has/did and probably never will, not much between them but Young at least was just that slightly bit better.

    Fulham are far more about the team they've built rather than players like Konchesky being fantastic players. I can't agree they are any smaller than we were in 2005 either. We've made far bigger mistakes over the years than letting a good but not brilliant left back go.
