Possibility of the game being called off?

Awful weather this evening and according to the forecast it looks like it's going to get worse overnight. Didn't we have a game called off last season due to a waterlogged pitch?

If the game is called off how early do refs usually make the decision?

Don't we have a tent or inflatable cover or something to cover the pitch .... or is it punctured like our pride and confidence?

Should think they would have announced an early pitch inspection if so.

Seem to remember it being a frozen pitch and our tent thing didn't work.

If the rain is severe, I think there every chance it could be off.

    "Bad weather"? "Game called off"?

Ha ha - wasn't a direct criticism bing!

Honestly though - bit of rain won't hurt. Add a bit of wind and it's a great leveller - we might even sneak a point!

If you go back to the old days, the pitch was nightmare. I should imagine it's much better drained now than in those days. However it's very geography is going to make really heavy rain find difficulty draining away quickly enough.

To be fair though, I don't ever remember many games ever getting called off because of a bit of wind tho bing.

Man up. I'll meet you by the Bartram statue at ten to 3 to hold your hand if you like - it's no bother.
  • When was the last time we had a match abandon?

We had a game against Orient abandoned after 3 mins and 29 secs due to a snow storm but that was only a friendly back in Feb 69...and a game up at Walsall due to rain in the 60's..but i sure we had a league game against Orient abandoned as well.

If the amount of water falling out of the sky over Brockley is anything to go by, the best drained pitch in the World would struggle to cope.

I'm leaving it to the last minute before I leave.

thunder and lightning in Welling now and very very heavy rain...I'm wondering if the pitch can cope.

    Giant hailstones now!
Don't look good out there...was gonna go for a jog but maybe not-just stick to lunchtime drinking for me!
Need a crash helmet to get to the car!
  • Very Sunny in Tunbridge Wells now. Pitch should be alright with covers though shouldnt it?
  • The clouds seem to be heading dead straight north, at a rapid rate of knots, towards Gatwick so maybe upto west london hopefully.
Now the sun is out at the same time....looking for the rainbow and the elusive pot!

Well eat something then. I couldn't stand the noise of your gastric juices flowing live on the pitch later.

Looking out in the direction of The Valley, there's a gathering of dark clouds and a slight depression. But that's been there since august ;)

Most rain we have had in Bromley all year. Garden is absolutely soaked.
However, the storm has just gone over and the sun has just come out.
The game will be on as there is no more rain forecast.
