Booked a last minute holiday there for next week, anyone been?

Any advice on where to go, staying near puerta del carmen.

  • Can you cancel?

    :-)
  • Loads of bars/restuarants to choose from in Puerto Del Carmen and you're only 10/15 minutes from the airport .

Costa Teguise and Playa Blanca are worth a visit as well
  • Go to the old town down by the harbour, plenty of great restaurants.

The main drag is not particularly wonderful ... lots of touristy bars and restaurants, and a number of nightclubs. Chips and happy hours galore if you like that.
  • We've got a time share in Lanzarote, love the place, probably the most laid back of all the islands, locals very friendly. Lots of touristy things to do and see and you'll save stacks if you organise them yourself, buses are very cheap and reliable. Your holiday rep will tell you complete load of shiite and try to sell you really expensive trips but if you check them out you can do the same for much, much less. As an example, the market is on a Sunday, well worth a visit, the reps will take you on a trip bus, stay for about two hours and then whisk you back and it'll cost you many pounds. You can jump on the bus, pay coppers and stay for as long as you want, plenty of bars there but the rep will tell you it's not safe or reliable to do this, total bollocks! One big drawback at the moment is the low exchange rate of the pound, prices are quite dear and you'll find alcohol is not cheap at all and probably dearer than home, we tend to buy duty free spirits and sit on the balcony. Eating out is a lot more expensive and even if you have self catering facilities supermarket prices are sky high. The main drag in Carmen has hundreds of bars and restaurants to choose from and you can have a great time, Teguise is a lot more laid back but still worth a visit....
  • Karl Pilkington has some interesting views on the place.
