Freda's flowers

edited December 2009 in Not Sports Related
As a follow up to the original 'B*st**ds' thread and on a happier note here's a snap of one of the bouquets being presented to Freda tonight by Mrs. March.. I hope you understand why we haven't shown the whole photo, unfortunate but we thought it best as Freda still feels pretty insecure. We also gave her some chocolates and a card with all the names of the Lifers who had sent their best wishes. Well done folks, especially those who donated , or are donating, to the 'flower fund' -you know who you are- she really appreciated it tonight and had a bit of a cry : it demonstrated the kindness and generosity of complete strangers. She didn't even get a Christmas card from her family! So thanks again people: have a happy New Year!

And therein lies the difference between this message board and the others. Football fans get a pretty bad press but on the whole most of us are decent, caring people when it comes down it.

    Well done again March.

One good deed done, now get on with the other important business..... The flag needs to be flying high again!

Okay, thanks mate, Took her out to the local Neighbourhood Watch new year's jolly last night which was well attended and she enjoyed herself very much. She didn't overdo it on the free mulled wine (with added brandy) although one person was seen to be celebrating another away win with several glasses of the stuff!! Next week it's a quiz night, not so much booze but a free curry: we know how to live it up out here in the sticks! We did shopping for her last week and made sure she didn't freeze. I think the incident is 'taking a back seat' now but she's still not keen on crowded places e.g Tescos. The flowers are lasting well and she's still very grateful. Thanks again for asking, cheers T.

March, how's Freda getting on then? Hopefully she's put it all behind her now?

Evening B.A, thanks for asking. Yes she's well and perky but fed up with not being able to get out to do her garden because of the weather. Came out with us for Mother's Day and enjoyed herself. As usual nothing from the family, no card, flowers,or visit (from their house 100 yards away)!! Still nervous of going shopping but there's been no calls (house or 'phone) so it looks like they were only interested in her cards. Dodgy callers from the 'Water Board' are in the area so we're keeping an eye out for them, just in case.. Only found out on Mother's Day she's a Blackpool supporter and was at the '53 Matthews Final :she can still reel off the names of the players. I didn't mention the 5-0 drubbing that put us down in '72!

Glad to hear it March. That '72 match was a couple of years before my time though ;-)
