Burton's half wit detractors...

I'm getting so frustrated with some of our fans who don't understand a thing about football.
I've mentioned this before but I have a group of people who sit behind me in the north lower who despise him.
It wouldn't matter if he scored a hat trick in every game for the rest of the season they would still slag him off from start to finish.

A typical moment from last night was when a dodgy ball was fired into Burton about 20 yards from the corner flag, with no one anywhere near him to help.
He managed to brilliantly control it, hold off one defender, turn another and then lay off a good ball to Basey...

the comments from behind me...

"useless, why can't he go forward with the ball, he hasn't got as clue"

Honestly, where did they expect him to go to?
Just run off the pitch with it?!

I've been so close to turning round and attempting to explain how much he does for the team, on top of being our top scorer.
But then I think it would be completely lost on them, they are narrow minded football morons.

I'm sure there are people like this all round the ground, just annoying I've got some sat directly behind me!

Rant over!

One more thing, I understand Burton isn't the best striker in the world, or even this division.
But he's a doing a damn good job for us, which I think goes completely unnoticed to some people.

Unfortunately you find these tw@ts at every ground. Every club has them. Just we seem to have them in abundance lately.

Winds me up as well. I posted about a similar group next to me a few home games ago (maybe even the same, west stand but they've never sat there before). As many goals and assists as Beckford and does a lot of other things that fans like them don't appreciate. Burton can't really run at players but that's what players like Sam, Youga and Wagstaff offer.

I think the vast majority realise his importance and on-going application .
He didn't have a great game last night but then who did!

The thing is, it's about opinions. The people behind you have different opinions to you. You may be right you may be wrong. Ditto for them behind you.
There's a widely held opinion on this site, that Basey is a useless carthorse entirely bereft of pace. I don't agree. He may not run at Rommedahl pace, but last night he ran the left wing many times, at a decent speed. That won't stop people on this site complaining 'Basey is so slow'

With Basey I think he just lacks acceleration, he showed when he got going on the longer runs he's not that slow.

spot on Daggs. It's all about opinions. What makes anyone think their opinion is right ? And you are spot on about Basey too. Thing is everyone, whether they admit it or not, has a scapegoat or two. At the moment they appear to be Sam or Basey or Llera or, in my case, Mooney who I think is a useless twat.

Your right in what your saying Large but its the tossers who continually spout crap at the top of their voices and are so blinkered about a certain player, that piss me and many others off.

LOL I can just imagine you with your head in your hands when he scored last night Large.

He will now go on a goal scoring run just to frustrate you even more!

I agree entirely but he should have done better with the four headers he had last night, he should have worked the keeper at least once. The first from the Richardson cross was a very good opportunity

Fair points from everyone and I'll be the first to admit that at times he wasn't great last night.
But that's the difference, I'm willing to look at a player on merit and change my opinion accordingly.

Rather than make a blinkered decision and stick by it no matter what.

I suppose the thing is that I'm an optimist, so love it when it if a player I thought wasn't very good proves me wrong.

The guys who sit behind me are bitter pessimists.
