CAFC Programmes (30 years) to off-load

I am expecting to move house in the next few weeks, and will not have room to accommodate my 'recent years' programme collection - earliest season is 1980/81, and mainly complete season sets for home games up to about 5 years ago, or whenever the size/shape changed, plus a handful of away games.

I did offer the collection to Paul Ellis at the club, but he doesn't have room to store them. Would anyone on CL be interested in having them?

  • put them on ebay individually that could bring in some money for you. I wouldn't mind Charlton-Liverpool from May 2001.

SolarAddick - If you are going to get shot, I would recommend you find a youngster with as much an enthusiasm as you might have had when you were their age. Post 60's don't really sell nowadays as so many of us have hung onto them.
  • Thanks for the feedback. Ebay looks like too much hassle anyway, even for giving them away!
Perhaps best that I cherry-pick and offer selected stuff to Paul then dump the rest!
I would have kept them, but also have 40 years-worth of soul and blues music mags to move and store!

And i've got over 3,000 CAFC related programmes at home..the 40's/50's stuff is worth a few quid and treble that if it has the words "Manchester United" on it but the rest i would find hard to shift if i wanted to sell.

Sadie, Charlton v Liverpool 19 May 2001. I've got it, you can have it. If you whisper me your address I'll send it to you. May take me a couple of weeks to track down in the loft but you are welcome to it.

That's two I've got rid of in the last four months on Charlton Life. Only another 2,004 to go !!

6TH January 1996, FA Cup Third Round. As with above you can have it but may have to be patient as it's in the loft and there is a couple of thousand to search through. Whisper me your address.

Would love a Charlton v West Ham 12th MARCH 1988 if anyone had it ?

I really hope Solar finds a home for his programmes, the thought of him dumping that lot is very sad.

  • Check your whispers, Maria- wonder if Feb 27 1982 is any good?
Feb 3 that year was League Cup......no match.

Got all those but would like the signed Long Good Friday if signed.

Maybe they could be raffled off somewhere.

    ...........

As I attended a lot of games that season I'd be interested but the club should really have something like that.

What was it - a book or video?

    Just whispered back matey :o)
  • Long Good Friday is a magazine-style publication, with foreword by Richard Collins (then Chairman), and messages from Sir Lennie and Peter Shirtliff.
Team photo also includes Lennie's signature, and there's a young-looking Curbs kneeling bottom left. Do I remember reading that Curbs left after the pic was taken and didn't stay for the match?

Thanks - I'd never heard of this publication.

I think Curbs left the premises of Wembley when he learnt he wasn't in the team for the Full Member's final, not the play-off final.

When I came out to Thailand I sold my programmes as a job lot on ebay. I had a couple 'cherry-picked' as well and I also kept one home and away programme per season (not sure why but they'll be stuck in a box in my friend's garage somewhere'.

I didn't get very much for them but you will probably find a bidder.

Of course we were in the Premier League at that time so there were more 'supporters' around to buy them.
