Hi guys. It's been a good week for me as I've been offered a new job at the main Liverpool Uni and will be starting in March. For now I'll be commuting from Manchester but if anyone has any knowledge of the place such as good places to see, places to eat, drinking establishments etc. that would be great. My car doesn't have hub caps so I'm not too worried about that.

No football to speak of.
Albert Dock is a good area during the day - take the Duck tour, and see the museums.
The nightlife is absolutely cracking - think more Big Market in Newcastle, rather than Eltham High Street
Chinatown is the place later on in the evening - Cream is still a top club if thats your bag
The Beatles tour is a good way to meet single female tourists, but not much else.
Plenty of (would be) comedians on here but the reality is that Liverpool (from my 20 years plus of living and working here) is a great place. Not many live Charlton matches on the doorstep but there isn't much else I miss about day to day living in London (especially the traffic congestion). Each to his own obviously but Liverpool suits me fine. Plenty to see and do and not over priced. Liverpool University is very well respected and the area it is located in is an architectural treasure.
Sure, like every city, we have our scallys but they won't bother you on a day to day basis. And don't worry about hub caps I think they have moved on from that.
As has been said the regeneration of the city in recent years is very impressive.
Enjoy!
Apart from that, you should love the place mate!
Can be a very scary experience
Heritage market is a good couple of hours out with the Mrs.
Sure you'll have a great time.
The royal court is a good music venue.
