Fcuking get in my son! (directed at superclive and just in general happyness that super chrissy powell is returning!!)

Cant wait for his first game in charge at the valley of dreams...
  • So made up about this. As I said yesterday when it was first mooted, this really seals the deal between the new board and the fans. A brave and right decision.

Anyone else constantly refreshing the OS?
  • [cite]Posted By: ross[/cite]Anyone else constantly refreshing the OS?

    All of us probably!
  • Everyone go back and read AFKA's ''breaking-point'' thread. It was only a few weeks ago and we all said exactly how we felt - and as an indication of how low many off us had sunk, it makes for truly depressing reading.

And now, think how differently we feel today. It's six o'clock at night on a January evening - but I swear I can see the frigging sun shining. I feel like I've morphed into Oggy, FFS!

I have to say this - fantastically well done by S & J, prompted heavily by Varney and Murray, I am sure. But this is a brilliant, brilliant decision. They want to fill the stadium and when they saw everyone leaving early v Swindon, that was curtains for the other bloke whose name I'm already beginning to forget! Simple as that. I don't think they had any agenda. They just knew, instictively in their hearts as both football people and businessmen, that he had to go.

Whether we get promoted or not this season, they realised the one thing they had to achieve was toget the Valley rocking again. And they have just made a brave, bold and audacious appointment which is going to do just that.

Fabulous. Best day as a Charlton fan in about five years, I reckon...
  • so so so happy, chrissy is coming home :) Cannot wait for the cheering and support he will recieve agiainst plymouth, this has made my year. I LOVE YOU SIR CHRIS!

If you want to be tipped over into weeping, ignore the Brighton mug, go and read the Leicester fans thread (even if a couple of them also have a dig at Charlton), we're not the only ones who love and respect the man. It seems that everybody who has known or had contact with Chris shares a similar opinion. No he is not a saint, and he will make mistakes, but for goodness sake guys CHRIS POWELL as OUR manager....can it be any better?
I for one don't give a stuff about promotion, if I can schlepp down to the Valley, watch decent football at a solvent Charlton, and see the development of our club with Chris in charge I am absolutely delighted.
    CHRIS POWELL WELCOME HOME.

Massive grin across my face, I imagine for the majority he wasn't their first choice but just like everyone else I'm delighted with this. Well done the board

I lost battery on my phone and had no way of getting updates to what was happening for the last hour and a half.

When I clicked that BBC link and saw Sir Chris standing there I just punched the air and couldn't stop grinning. I haven't felt this good about Charlton since we beat Sunderland at Wembeley.

I don't care what all these 'anti-powell' people say, in my opinion he is exactly what Charlton need and more to the point Murray, Varney, Slater and Jiminez agree. They interviewed him, they could probably feel his passion to take us forward and "come home".

For those refreshing the os, don't expect an announcement tonight. I'm sure there are a few loose ends that won't be fully tied up till tomorrow.

But expect CP to be officially announced as manager tomorrow.

Do not have much else to add to what most people have said.

Best new we have had in years.

Seth, that's the best thing I've read amid a landslide of euphoric posts. Because you are so right. 24 hours ago, I was thinking that promotion was ther only thing that mattered.

Now I feel completely different. If it take SCP another season to get us out of this crap division - I DON'T CARE. Because I know he will get us playing proper football, and we will feel like a proper club again and he's a proper gent and he will do everything proper and we will be proper Charlton.

    What more could anybody want???

Can't wait to read his press conference. Think I will be in tears!

The gorgeous Georgie Thompson on SSN has just said Charlton expect to make an announcement in next 24hrs.

Exactly. We've got out of a marriage of convenience with the last bloke , and jumped straight into a marriage of red-hot passion! And as a result, we are all with you in SE7 heaven tonight, heavenSE7...

Unconfirmed reports that Deano will be part of the coaching team
  • Thank heavens we are not still in the bad old days when you couldn't believe anything until it was on the OS. I honestly don't think I could have waited until tomorrow morning!

It would be an absolute dream if

    Chris Powell - Manager
    Keith Peacock - Assistant
Mark Robson - First Team coach
    Mark Kinsella - Coach
    Dean Kiely - Goalkeeping Coach
    Ben Roberts - Goalkeeping Coach

All former players. But obviously Mark Kinsella was got rid, so maybe that list without kins?

I said the other day wise would not be our new manager, and said earlier powell was finalising contract.

Don't think he is coaching anywhere at the minute but would love to see Claus Jensen join us in some sort of role, one of best Charlton midfielders I have ever seen.
