Sorry, only just caught up with this sad news. Always enjoyed his films especially 'Two Way Stretch' where he played Chief Prison Officer 'Sour' Kraute to Peter Sellers' Dodger Lane, Bernard Cribbens' Lenny the Dip and David Lodge's Jelly Knight, and not forgetting 'Strangeways' the cat ('Yes, I've seen some of his strange ways!') A great comedy actor and director.RIP
