Nightmare. That injury looked so innocuous at the time.

If he played 60 minutes what has happened? Didn't say he broke down again in that game did he?

If Deon's out for a while thats a massive blow as well

the author of that piece says 'CHARLTON could find themselves in for a testing business end of their League One campaign'. You don't say, wonderful insight. Why is it that the local press are never prepared to ask Parky the difficult questions ?
  • At this rate, Youga will go the way of Poole and Rowett and never play again!

do you think so, i thought it was bad when he done it and really a unecessary challenge,he dangled his leg and the impact was very severe.

I've always felt we have a squad problem not a team problem , this demonstrates it graphically. I have a lot of sympathy for Parky in terms of what he has said on Saturday . Although we may have the second largest wage bill in the Division , 8k a week ( probably enough for four decent League One squad players ) is spunked up on Moo2's wages

This probably means firstly that Borrowdale is with us now for the duration . On Saturday he looked ok but not as good as Jackson or Youga going forward but is probably as good defensively . Maybe he will improve when Reid plays as two good left footers.

I'm not worried about Randolph in Goal , more that if Elliot is not fit then we need a second keeper for the run in to be on the bench. Maybe , as others have said after Southend and Millwall Robbie needed a rest.

In an ideal world I still would like us to get a centre back and striker to boost our options , I appreciate however that resources are scarce.

I guess I'm a bit surprised because he was still able to hobble off at the time. Didn't the injury also result from a tackle by him, rather than him being tackled? Clearly my memory of it is a bit hazy!

If Burtons out for a while surely the board would have to find money for a striker somewhere?

Strikers this league say on £3-5k a week, for a 10 week loan thats £50k for the next 3 months, let's have a whip round?

I agree with the rest of what you say but in fairness with this part its a bit harsh to expect Parky to deal with both first choice and a decent back up in Basey to BOTH be out with long-term injuries then our best loanee in Jackson to get crocked as well!

I was saying when he first went off that it would be a while till we saw him again.

It's the innocuous injuries that seem to destroy Charlton players for ages - I remember Euell dislocating a shoulder and missing almost a whole season

Maybe our boys are made of glass

I said at the time this would be a bad one:

We do seem to have more than our fair share of players disappear into a black hole once injured.

I also absolutely agree that it is totally Parky's fault 3 of our left backs have suffered terminal injuries this season. Give me strength!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steady. Nothing outstandingly good or bad. Comfortable at this level and will do a job I think.

He had one surging run which finished with a very weak shot but at least he was capable of making the chance for himself.

The injury happened right in front of me, and i thought it looked bad at the time. Real shame that is.

I actually agree with you and didn't mean for my comments to be interpreted as negative , my view is that we probably have the best team player for player in the Division. I also believe that Jackson was an astute signing who could have changed our season positively . Leeds and Norwich have much better squads and at this stage this is critical.

Yes we have the left back problem through injury , but ideally I'd also like to see a centre back and another striker to add to the mix , not to mention a third Goalie if Robbie is out.

I just wish we had a few more decent bodies to see us over the line. The 8K a week we pay M002 could do this for us. That's wahats so frustrating

Pardew saddled us with Moo2's £8K a week not Parky.

It is just yet another factor tying Parky's hands...

Ideally yes but unfortunately it just won't happen. If we get a few more injuries we'll have the likes of Binks, Tuna and Mambo joining Solly and Wagstaff on the bench. Would be interesting to see how many senior players Norwich and Leeds have compared to us. Are their second choice right back and right wingers young players like ours?

£8k a wekk or not, this is still someone who's available for selection though....surely he'd be desperate to prove something to get a move away in the summer.

He was poor for Motherwell though, and we probably have to pay him an appearance bonus. From what we've read, it doesn't sound like he gets on and fits in with the rest of the squad either. Not sure we'd get much out of him myself.

I think there must be something seriously up with the Moots situation if he STILL can't get a game. I don't think pure stubbornness is behind it.

He hasn't even been given a squad number. That says it all.

I think Scoham is right , from what I've heard he has a big appearance fee and an even bigger win bonus, big enough to pay another loanee's weekly wage . Parky denied that there are any appearance type payments to his old club. Christensen had a similar deal but never played.

In the summer with a year left he may consider being paid off as per the Sunday People article, I suspect he will be in demand in the French League . When he joined us there was an outcry that one of their best prospects was going abroad outside the Premier League. I hope like Fulham did with Omuzi that he hold his registration and get some money back , he is too young to do a Winston Bogarde for another season.
  • I would guess that Moo2 sees that his contract is 500k in the bank, he won't get anywhere near that elsewhere, otherwise I am sure we would have sent him packing with a pay off. I have known plenty of people stay in a job they hate, do the minimum and pick up the cash for a lot less money than that.

It's like a vote of confidence for a manager. When a long term injured Charlton player is back-in-training, you know you won't see them for a while.
