  • I'll echo the Loakes/Churchill recommendations. If you buy a decent pair of brogues not only do they look good but will last longer than cheap shoes, in the long term you'll save money.
  • Get yoself a pair of Black Crocs
  • Loakes for me all day, I have a black pair and a brown pair, same design in both, they last very well and look good with suits and even jeans.

they always shine up like new.
  • bought a Timbaland pair for work last time round and they have been excellant. Very hard wearing, very comfortable. Can be worn casually with jeans etc too. Had them 10 months and not a mark on them, inside still ok, back not broken down. Definately recommend them.
  • Crocs should be banned. So should those sandles things that old blokes wear in the summer.

    They make my skin crawl.

I bet a few people on here have got a pair!
  • [cite]Posted By: Charlton Charlie[/cite]Jeffrey West are my personal favourite for 'quality' shoes.. have 3 pairs on the go at the moment and each are brilliant....my favourite 'everyday' pair have the fantastic 'Heroes' sole, which is super comfortable but I don't want to wear them as the sole will (obviously) disappaear....which means I'll just have to get another pair eh?

I think that every one over the age of 40 should invest in a decent pair of shoes...time to move away from white reeboks with your jeans chaps...

Got to agree with this. I have 4 pairs of jeffrey West on the go. I hope they come out with a nice suede pair this spring. They are made in Northampton so by no means cheap or trendy. The styles are more european and sleek as opposed to the big clunky american/english brogue style. There is a Jeffrey West shop behind Leadenhall Market in the city.
  • I have a pair of Timberland Boots that I bought 15 years ago...remember that I paid £140, which made me want to cry at the time...but they're still going strong.. Yes they've broken down inside and the sole is almost bald, but for messing about when you know it's going to be muddy or wet underfoot they are absolutely fine...real, real good quality.
  • I swear by Loakes and make mine last 3 years at least by having rubber soles glued to the leather and blackies nailed to the tops of the toes, the underneaths never wear through; also change the hills every 6-8 months. £80 for shoes which will last 3 years and worn daily for work in an office is good going. Would never go cheap £25 shoes or ones with labels for £50-£70 which will not last me more than 5 months. I'm heavy footed apparently.

There's quite an interesting shoe shop in Blackheath opposite The 3 Tuns ( or some Irish named pub nowadays....I still call it The Tuns though)...the mens dept is downstairs.
I think they buy out end of line stuff, have found one or two interesting things in there over the years and they do stock a very good range of Church & Loakes as well.
I'll find the name and edit.
    It's called Pares............in Tranquil Vale.
