Voters in the Tennessee's Tracy City have elected a dead man as their mayor.
Carl Robin Geary Sr died of a heart attack on March 10, but on Wednesday, the late Geary defeated incumbent Barbara Brock 268 votes to 85, according to the Chattanooga Times.
"I knew he was deceased. I know that sounds stupid, but we wanted someone other than her," Chris Rogers, owner of the town's Lunch Box restaurant, told the Chattanooga Times.
The seat will now be declared vacant and the city's four aldermen will select a new mayor, according to the newspaper.
Brock said she would survive her defeat to a dead man.
