    That was a great night.
It was the game that cemented my love affair with Charlton.

Not two sentences that really belong together.

    Wow!
  • Chesterfield away in 74 was a proper pitch invasion.
The youth today have no idea
No… The Man Utd 5-1 defeat was better, led onto pitch by Police after going 1 up following fighting on half way, We were 2-1 down by rime they got us around the pitch…..

Don’t be daft, your abacus must have lost a bead, we’d all be old men and slowing down by now if that was the case…
  • That Preston night was so special - just 15 at the time and my first taste of glory! "On the pitch, on the pitch!"
  • Sunderland when the Jimmy Seed was closed was interesting 😉
  • My problem with pitch invasions, is the safety of the opposition players. It might not feel very spontaneous, but they should be allowed off the pitch first, as there will always be home fans who start abusing them, and that's when it can get nasty.
Yesterday highlighted this exactly. Our players were swamped by the Wrexham fans yesterday, and judging by the actions of the mouthy minority gloating and gesticulating in front of us, I imagine copped some abuse too.

Saw one giving it to Gilbert, in fairness he gave it back.
  • The only Charlton player I saw leave the pitch was TC.

Saw Jones leave, it must have been a good 5 minutes after the whistle.
  • I saw Godden, Edwards, and Docherty who all applauded the Charlton fans in that narrow strip between us and the stewards.

Fair play to them. Would have been understanble to leg it off down the tunnel
