Oldham vs. Charlton - Poll, News, Views, Place to Dream

We live in hope more than expectation.

The game at Oldham is not as pivotal or defining as we would probably want it to be – but it could still turn out that way.

An unlikely and improbable set of results could still see Charlton get that coveted second place and negate the need for play offs this season, but let’s be honest, it’s not going to happen is it?

Saturday is a day for those going up to Boundary Park to enjoy themselves, the football and hopefully the result. If things don’t go our way, then so be it – we just need to carry on the momentum into the 3 (hopefully) most important games in our recent history.

I can’t see the team changing much from last week with Parky determined to get a result regardless of what happens at Leeds and Millwall. If results filter through from elsewhere and things are not going our way we could quite easily see multiple changes and a “foot-off-the-gas” attitude take place – especially with an important game coming up rather quickly.

Anyway, let’s enjoy the day, do our job by winning 3-1, keep everything crossed and see what ten to five brings us.

Come on You Reds!

I think 3 points is a must regardless of results elsewhere, so id be quite annoyed if we took our foot off the gas if Leeds were spanking BR. We need to get that 2nd leg at home.

I reckon we'll be in a comfortable 2 nil cushion and we'll be in the stands listening to other results more than the game.

Oldham have just sacked their manager, their safe, theres probably never going to be a better time for us to go there and get a win

Charlton win meaning we finish 3rd as the spanners and worzels will cancel each other out.

The football league seem to be saying that will happen if we finish 6th, so if Huddersfiled are winning we should throw the game!

Get a win and go into the play-offs on a run of form.

Should win but Leeds won't mess it up, so it'll be playoffs. Even if they do, you could end up with Millwall and Swindon both going for a winning goal.

Leeds slip up to last minute 2-1 defeat, Swindon get an equaliser in the 95 minute, Akpo scores a 93 minute winner for us, best 5 0'clock in history.

with the away end packed to the rafters,
with all the noisey passionate charlton fans (who can pull themselves away from the election)
what better incentive will the team have than to be inspired to a monumental victory
    0-0 it is then

2-0 Charlton. A 4th place finish and Swindon in the playoffs.

    we'll win, i'm sure of it. 3-0

as for the other results - think leeds might slip us, but i can't see swindon and millwall drawing... think swindon might nick it.

in fact i'd prefer Leeds 1-1, Nillwall 1-1 and charlton win 12-0 securing promotion

    This is a 'heart' one.

We will win, the other results will go our way, we will go up in second place, I will send my play off tickets back.

Or by 4.50 on Saturday I will feel like an idiot!!

Never mind I am in a totally positive place on this one!!

To all those that are going, I hope it turns into one of those 'we were there' games. Good Luck!!!!

In the Football League, only Darlington have scored less goals than Oldham this season (so far anyway!) - they've actually failed to score in 21 of their games so far, let's hope that becomes 22.

However in Oldham's last three victories, the scoring was opened by striker Lewis Guy who is on a month's loan from Doncaster.

I think we will win and I can see a Spanner/Swindon draw but I just can't see Leeds losing at home to Bristol Rovers sadly. (I can dream though)
