Final Premier League Table

I was looking at the Premier table and thought how low the points tallies were.

In 2006-07 we were 19th with 34 points - this year West Ham were 17th with 35. Sheffield United finished 18th with 38 - this year they would have finished about 15th. To stay up this season you only had to get 30 points and a goal difference better than -40. The previous seasons were: 07-08 36 points, 08-09 34 points.

What happened to the 40 points safety in the Prem?

Comments

  • With Burnley, Pompey, Hull, Wigan, Wolves it was always likely to be a lower points tally than usual to stay up.
  • yep unbelievable and the crap team curbs left us with in the premiership, that got 11 points from its last 10 games, in our usual end of season collapse, were never good enough to stay up the following year and good job we didn't let him see out the last year of his contract
  • Chelsea scoring 7 goals at home 3 times this season plus an 8 on the final day tells you all you need to know about the Premiership these days. Just not competetive and 33 points to stay up may become the norm.
  • Yet the top four lost more games than ever before.
    Think we can say:
    The top teams got worse
    The middle pack got better
    The bottom tier were woeful

lol spot on One lung, i think top 10 seem to be just as competitive as previous seasons with mid-table teams catching up and nicking results against the top 4

Still not quite the spanish league where you only get the top 2 who are miles clear of everyone else(that ones for you leroy :o) )
