Charlton to win World Cup 2018

Trust work included in 2018 bid book

At 8.45am in Zurich this morning, FIFA President Sepp Blatter was formally handed England's official bid book to support the country's bid to host the 2018 World Cup.

The bid book contains references to the ground breaking work of the Charlton Athletic Community Trust in South African townships over the past seven years, in partnership with British Airways and the Metropolitan Police, and the outstanding legacy that this work has left. It is held up as an example of what can be achieved even in the most difficult of circumstances.

Trust CEO Jason Morgan said" We are honoured to have been included within the 2018 World Cup bid document and it is fantastic recognition of the impact we have had in South Africa over the past seven years" Trustee Paul Elliott adds even more weight to securing the World Cup for England as he is part of the Board working to achieve the result which will be announced in December. Morgan added "Paul has visited South Africa as part of our project and promoted England`s Bid at the same time, it is hoped he and the Trust will be in South Africa during the World Cup to carry on this work.
