Just watching the highlights of the nigeria game and one of their players missed an open goal from literally three yards away bang in the middle of the goal

    i saw that , that has seriously got to be a contender for the worst miss ever
    surely anybody who doesnt even play football , could easily have tapped that in
    it would have put them thru aswell wouldnt it??

    Yakubu's miss has to be up there in the top three of all time. My onw favourite is Ronnie Rosenthal's back in the early 90's.

    Was it worse than Andy Jones vs. Liverpool at Selhurst Park (late 80's I think)?

    Open goal - 2 yards out - ended up in Sainsbury's - club foot!

    I remember Pringle missing an absolute sitter away at Walsall which was amongst the worst i've seen by a Charlton player.

    Yak's miss is up there with Kanu's - truly awful misses - but you could argue that both balls came in at pace and were spinning a lot....

    whereas this guy had no excuse.

    what makes it worse is that he didn't even need to touch it as it was rolling in anyway.

    The worst Miss ever(that i've seen anyway), was Miss Butlins Bognor 1969...I was there and she was an absolute dog of the first order I can tell you.
