[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]'ve judged him as being no better than Stavrinou and therefore an unneccessary signing. I'm willing to be proved wrong though, just don't think I will be ;-))
Well, we will want (that's a lot of wubble-you's) to see for ourselves, but let's give McCormack a chance first before we write him off. He's 26, had Championship experience with both Preston and Southend....... and built himself a reputation as a tough character in League One.

Parky must have already seen him play. McCormack must bring gritty qualities to the side that only a hard fought League match will show. Let's both of us assess him again after 10 League matches, yes?

    agreed Oggy.

[cite]Posted By: LargeAddick[/cite]same as people have said sign Bauza on the basis of the Welling game. If people can judge him as good enough to sign then surely I can judge McCormack as being an unneccesary signing. I havn't said he's crap just uneccessary as he isn't any better than Stavrinou in my opinion.
Fair point but he's a trialist in a position we desperately need a minimum of 2, ideally 3 signings, and he has League One and Championship experience. We're going to have to gamble on strikers as we won't be able to sign someone that scored 15+ in this league last season.

[cite]Posted By: razil[/cite] Sam is a bit out of order rejecting a contract, but then thats the mercenary game nowadays.

Out of order? Mercenary game? If it was a contract offered that cut his wages, then it is a fair decision. If you were offered reduced terms at your place of work, when you had a better offer on the table elsewhere, would you accept?

He would only be a mercenary if he was still in contract & tried to break it for his own ends. He still considered staying with us, but the opportunity to play at a higher level might have had something to do with it too. You know, some players actually still have ambition, not all are cash sucking vampires.

Agree, I'm sure we've signed players over the years on frees that have rejected offers to stay at their current club, nothing wrong with him moving up a league to a bigger club and of course on a better and probably longer contract than he'd have got here.

    McLeod out

    Reidy in

Changing my rating to an A-
A troublemaker and high earner out of the door and a talented, hungry and exciting player in.

    *raises glass towards Parky*

What i really like about the signings is they seem to be the right CAFC players that have played at this level but also the likes of Sodje, Jackson and Reid have already played for us so altough there are big changes being made to the squad/team it will not be like a bunch of stangers and take them a few games to settle.

I agree R&C...I was just thinking that the tenor on here and in general seems to be increasingly positive, and I for one am feeling better about the coming season than I ever dreamed would be the case a couple of months ago

So far so good, Reid, Jackson and Doherty have some class and character that we've missed, the players that have gone, with the exception of Randolph have been for good money.

If we can get a decent RB in and a couple of strikers then I'll be happy. Hopefully we can get a decent loanee or two in, but the squad is shaping up well and some of the younger players - Tuna, Wagstaff should get a good opportunity this season.

Looks to me as though Parky had his list of " I wants /don't wants " as soon as the final Swindon penalty was taken and I'd say, so far , he's come up trumps with the help of the Chairman . A balanced squad of battlers , mainly experienced and with a soupcon of youth who have nothing to lose when given their chance.

Another keeper, 2 strikers (minimum) and I'll be very happy . Well done to all concerned.

Really pleased I "gambled" on the 5 year season ticket .....

    A

This is a better team than last year, FACT. Just need to add Bauza + 1 more striker and a bit of strength in depth then he's got the A*

Not an A yet only a C from me as we still don't have a full side. We need 3 strikers a LB and a RB as well as a RM. You all know I'm a parky fan but he really is making this his own squad.
When I spoke to him before he said that he wanted a young hungry side to his team and also a mature assured quality too. He has just given us this with the signings so far!
  • Definately an A for work done so far. Better than I could ever have imagined. But as said above, we are only half way there...need 2-3 decent strikers in which is going to be the tricky part although maybe the fact we have let Mclown go means we have something lined up?

    We have wingers now.

We need a big centre forward who can head goals and put himself about a bit.

Holt tore us apart in the second half at Carrow Road last year.

We need someone to do the same on a regular basis.

So far so good, taking shape.

The final test will be the strikers we bring in. A scoring partnership is needed if we are to gain promotion.

    Agreed, still hoping we do.

Yep I shouldn't have mentioned that word recipe for a negative discussion.

Solid. The threat of a relegation battle recedes. Not enough going forward to make promotion a realistic possibility.

But our League season doesn't kick off today.

Kinsella only said a couple of days ago, that the forward line is now the main priority.
    So expect striker signings soon.
  • everyone should take a step back imo

yes so far it has been good, the good Doc, Jacko and Reid we know what we are getting Daily re-signing is fantastic but i not only think that on behalf of parky but on christians part too i think we got to him tbh, he is repaying us for his season and affection last term.

the fella from sthend jury out tbh some fans from sthend that i know say he is ok some say he is not a 3rd div player 1 or 2 say he is fantastic.

    go get Forts,

go get a good striker and then get one that we either are taking a risk on because he is young and hungry, or go get an old head, we also lack creativity still

oh yeah and dont forget there is still a keeper needed.

stronger than last year not sure been thinking about it maybe but only just

still need more atleast 4 imo 5 and i would be happy

I guess you're used to working with no budget. You're married.
