Apparently could be coming on loan to us according to the player himself:

I would have thought we were the more likely of us and southampton for 2 reasons - 1) we're closer, so quicker in the event of a call back, and 2)wenger and pardew aren't exactly buddies are they

Don't/didn't we have a Frimpong? Maybe it's as common a name in Ghana as Smith.
  • Saw him yesterday at the emirates cup and he was awesome. Small holding midfielder with great control - could be useful but Wenger was quoted saying he will give Arsenal more options this season

Very Alex Song like, did well against Celtic and AC Milan.

Another defensive midfielder............no thanks, unless Semedo is off.

An attacking midfielder............thats a different matter.

We don't really need another central midfielder do we? Semedo, McCormack, Racon, Jackson if necessary, Stavrinou if desperate.

Looked like a good player yesterday against Celtic.

We need a couple of strikers, another right midfielder and a reserve keeper first before we spend resources on loans for central midfield.

He's being raved about in the Sun I think. Read it somewhere earlier today that Wenger rates him for England!?

Would be a quality signing and would easily get in our squad imo. However I'm sure saints will offer a better deal to the arse.

He would be a top signing but does Wenger actually want him kicked to bits by some of the cloggers in this division?

I think being kicked to bits will do him goo, makes him learn to be more evasive, or to toughen up. Plus, he is more attacking than Semedo, and can play a bit wider too, so is perfect cover for Racon, and is better than Stav. Plus, Jackson will be used as left back and left mid more than centre mid, so he would be a useful addition.

I would want him or Emmanuel-Thomas, who is more attacking, and was captain of the youth team last season.

No way we'd get JET, he's on something like 10k a week. Unbelievable for a reserve player!

    Yeah, that was Kenny Frimpong.

(nah, not really, that was star non-scoring striker Kenny Achapong)

I went to the Emirates Cup yesterday and have to say he was brilliant. A very tidy player who always looks calm and composed on the ball. I'd expect Semedo to leave if he is signing for us.

  • I guess there might be some downside to Frimpong joining on loan, but having watched him play at the Underhill last year in an early-season friendly, I walked away very impressed. I caught the Celtic-Arsenal Emirates Cup match on television yesterday and he has gotten even better.
  • Why would him coming mean Semedo leaving? It's a long season, we need a squad and we're short of players. Stavrinou might be ok for the odd game or sub appearance but he isn't really ready yet, McCormack isn't exactly a world beater so that leaves Racon and Semedo and that's it. Woefully short for a 46 game season.

sorry couldn't work out how to quote.....but.....

does it matter how many we have if we can get someone better, surely we want the best players we can have?
  • Semedo and Frimpong in the middle should be able to control every game at this level, would be a good addition but I'm sure Wenger has said he doesn't want to loan out Frimpong or Wilshere.

I will always advocate signing a player if he is better than what you already have. Frimpong from what I've seen would improve us greatly.

What I wouldnt want to see happen is Frimpong come in with a clause saying he has to play. I also wouldnt want to see him come in if the extra wages mean we have to compromise with strikers.
  • Can't see it happening personally would rather concentrate on getting another keeper, right sided midfielder and a couple of strikers

Very good player, but is quite similar to somedo... would only be able to be played in a 4-5-1 with somedo and frimpong deep and someone playing in behind the striker (racon?)

We may have plenty of CDM but that doesn't mean you'd turn down someone of his potential, him and Semedo in the middle could dominate midfield

He did look really good v Celtic and played with an authority beyond his years but as others have said we'd have to spread the budget carefully and keep one eye on the development of others. Of course he could just have been using Charlton / Sotn as examples too.
