I like that starting 11 large and would be enough, but who knows will be keeping an eye on here tonight

Well done to those that are going

should imagine parky will change all 11 and have a strong bench, well thats what i'd do, more important to get a result this friday than tonight.

Can only see a home win, will be tight but our woeful form to continue in cup comp, not that i'm worried, we'll have a good run next yr when in the championship and have a squad bigger than we have currently

[cite]Posted By: Scoham[/cite]Is there no extra time? I know the JPT goes straight to pens but I didn't think the Carling Cup does?
Charlton or Shrewsbury will still win even if it is ET. Didnt want to overcomplicate things.

Our very own binary bores will grind out a 1-0 or 0-0 then pens win ..... Oh the excitement and pride to be entering these great competitions so early

Couldnt give a rats baloon about this game to be honest...

We still have a thin squad and I would be happy with a 1-0 defeat and exit the compretition...

I will care about cup matches once we are back in the Championship until then I feel we should forfeit ALA Man United in the FA cup...

Sort of agree with Mascot ....but not to forfeit the competition.

With no reserve league, it gives good opportunity for youngsters and squad players to gain experience and keep up their match fitness.

As Parky says ....... "I want to win at Shrewsbury, but the League is our priority".
    Says it all.

Given our league cup tradition I've gone with a Shrewsbury win.

Underwhelmed by this competition and just hope we avoid injuries and / or suspensions to key players.

I hope he uses it to give those senior pros who have not had a good pre season a run out and fills up the rest of the team with aspiring youngsters like Mambo, Tuna etc, etc.

    The league is all important.

Parky has got to pick his team for Friday first, before he even thinks about selecting a side for the Shrewsbury match.

    He's already stated his priority.

Charlton: Worner; Francis, Solly, Mambo, Llera; Wagstaff, Racon, Stavrinou, Smart; Abbott, Martin

Subs: Elliot, Jackson, Doherty, Jenkinson, McCormack, Reid, Sodje

8 Changes and debuts for Worner and Smart. Jenkinson would also be a debut if he comes on.

A risk by Parky playing a 2nd XI for which he will be pilloried if we don't win but he has said that Friday is more important so resting the likes of Dailly, McCormack and Sodje makes sense.

Not sure how they will line up.

Almost what Large said apart from Solly at left back.

I think that's Jenkinson's first appearance on the bench, so he could be another that makes his debut. He'll have a squad number now as well.
  • Good choice resting the older members of The team. Gives a couple youngsters and new singings a run out.

    Yes, good call Large.

It's Fry being injured that means Solly plays LB, I guess.

    Since Saturday I guess
With Matt Fry nursing a calf complaint, Chris Solly slots in on the left of defence with Llera joined by another youngster, the towering Mambo, at the back.

Good call large. Think parky has it bang on.

Apparently 60 odd percent were expecting a win. Odd.

Also notice that most were close to the team that played tonight. Also, those vocal and moaning now are conspicuous by their absence on this thread.

    Gotta love hindsight

I would say great minds think alike. I went and was fairly happy. Last year we went to places like Hereford and Northwich and barely had an effort on goal. I'd have rather gone out tonite as we did as opposed to losing 1-0 and not having a shot.

It's gone 1:30 am and I guess you've just got back? Respect for going, Large.

And agree with you - it's better to have created plenty of chances and scored 3.
