it is with deep regret that barry sadly died yesterday.
i dont know how many lifers knew him to talk to ,but those that were regulars at the valley pre-selhurst would recognise him as the large fella that wore a vest in all weathers, and stood as i remember on the 'clock terrace' next to the main stand.
he lived in eltham, was a regular in the yorkshire grey and was a member and canvassed for the labour party at election time.
he was also the founder of lincoln athletic, a sunday morning football team that i played for with barry as my manager.
anyone who does know the family will appreciate how trying this time is for them.
