That tradition continued and organised games were being played across England, and not just in public Schools, all the way up unto The FA were formed. It's just that they all had local rules. What The FA did was codify Association Football so yes we did invent it.

I like robert lee worked on the turnstyles at the valley, I went on to have a very succesfull career with charlton, newcastle and derby county and I've played for england 21 times. Robert however didn't make the grade and know drives around the SE of london in his van looking for old fridges and broken excersise bikes.
