Llera notches 2 in a friendly

Kinsella is five alive
A CAFC XI ran out comfortable 5-0 winners in a friendly against Seaford Town on Tuesday night, with Mark Kinsella turning back the years to feature in central midfield in the closing stages.

The Addicks first-team coach and legendary midfielder entered the fray as a late substitute at The Crouch, when the visitors were already five goals up against the Sussex County League Second Division side.

Miguel Llera scored twice and Tosan Popo, Ben Davisson and Tamer Tuna also found the net as Charlton enjoyed a successful evening, hitting the woodwork on a further two occasions.

The first goal arrived when centre-half Llera netted from a corner, and Popo made it 2-0 when he converted a loose ball from close range after Callum Harriott's shot had been parried.

Spaniard Llera, known for his set-piece prowess, made it 3-0 from a free-kick, and a long-range effort by winger Davisson, recently plying his trade on loan with Bromley, made it 4-0 before half-time.

Indeed, it could have been 5-0 at the break but for the woodwork denying Tuna, but the youth graduate made sure he was on the scoresheet when he rounded the Seaford goalkeeper in the second half following a neat throughball by Alan McCormack, named skipper for the evening.

Popo was also thwarted by the angle of the crossbar and post as he sought his second of the night, and the Addicks made a series of changes as the second half progresses.

Adebayo Azeez, who netted in the win against Arsenal U18s on Saturday, Connor Morris and Kinsella himself all got a taste of the action as Charlton put on a show on the night Seaford unveiled their new David Jordan stand.

After the final whistle, Addicks development coach Damian Matthew said: "It was a great exercise for us, and it was a real privilege to be invited by Seaford. We were treated fantastically well.

"It was a heavy pitch, so we put Kins on for the last 10 minutes just to look after a few legs at the end.”

Charlton: Gough; Jenkinson (Kinsella), Mambo, Llera, Carter; Davisson, McCormack, Warren (Morris), Harriott (Azeez); Popo, Tuna.

OK so only a easy friendly, but he does seem able to find the net when given the chance.
