Kevin Nolan (our one, not the Newcastle player!)

Messing around on CAFCTV today I discovered that the incomparable Kevin Nolan had been a guest on Charlton Live back on October 10th.

Listening to the show brought me right back to dear old SE London from here in Australia with Kevin's acerbic wit coming through brilliantly, not least with his biting description of Alan Pardew as having been, "A bit of a chap, you never know what he's up to, do you?" Who could put it any better than that?

I must declare an interest here, having been mates with Kevin's son through secondary school and subsequently becoming an acquaintance - one could never dare say friend - of the great man himself but there is little doubt that as the Charlton Live boys and girls said, Mr. Nolan is indeed a Charlton legend.

All I can say is than the Lord above for Kevin Nolan and the wonderful coverage he has given us over the years, I very much doubt that anyone else has ever or will ever cover the club in such a compelling way again.

The only thing that worries me is how a bloke in his eighties keeps his hair looking so damned impressive!

  • Superb journalist and a great bloke.
  • Chatting to Kevin, his lovely wife Hazel and Colin Cameron before the game on Saturday. Proper Charlton people.

His match reports in Greenwich Time every week are always spot on.

In his eighties? Late 50s I would have thought
  • Yeah, but don't get the old sod talking about his army days!! Mr Nolan is definitely in his 70's.

Having Kevin Nolan on Charlton Live was great for us, he talks as good as he writes, we just avoid talking about Barnsley! also talking to him in the media room before tha game is an absolute joy, a terrific writer, great fun and always with the lovely Hazel in tow, I dont care how old he is, as long as he keeps going, also a mention for Colin Cameron, he always has a stat or two for us on matchdays, two real Charlton characters.
  • That crazy fool Mr. Nolan makes the Valley press lounge and box fun places to be. Factamundo.
