Peterborough vs. Charlton (13/11/10) - Preview, Polls, Views and News

edited November 2010 in General Charlton
Since the Brighton debacle five games ago something seems to have clicked in Parky’s and the players’ minds. The team has recorded 4 out of 5 wins, kept 4 clean sheets, progressed to the semi finals of a cup competition and even squeezed into the draw for the second round of the FA Cup. We’ve scored nine goals and seemingly found a partnership up top that looks like it could fire us somewhere close to promotion.

Currently sitting a single point behind the automatic promotion places and level with Saturday’s opponents Peterborough it is essential that the team continues this current decent run of form. After Saturday’s game we have five very winnable games leading up to a potential crunch clash with Southampton on Boxing Day – who knows where we could be sitting come then?

Peterborough have a decent home record with 5 wins and 2 defeats but they do concede goals. On average they are shipping in 2.14 goals at home per game (although they are scoring an impressive 3 per game) so we should expect goals and considering our excellent recent defensive displays we should be confident of getting something out of the game.

I fully expect Parkinson to stick with the team that served him so well in the displays against Wednesday and Swindon away. A few players were rested in the victory against Southend on Tuesday so we should be raring to go. Hopefully the likes of Racon and Jackson can continue their rich vein of form and I’d expect Wagstaff to exploit the obvious deficiencies in the Posh backline.

Away day goalscoring specialist Benson and Joe Anyinsah are surely going to cement themselves as the “First Choice Strike Partnership” and should be confident of adding to their totals.

If we approach this game believing we can win then I believe we will get something out of it, I do however think our defence will be breached for the first time in a while.

One for your Pools Coupon. 2-2.

3 - 2 to someone, not not sure who.

    Oh, go on then, us.

    5-3 to them
but not a problem we're gonna be in the play offs, no matter what the result tomorrow and you can quote me on that

I predict goals, optimism tells me 4-2 to us.

Peterborough are one of those teams we just won't beat, like Millwall last season. If we score 2 they'll score 3. If we score 3 they'll score 4. Peterborough win.

i think we are going to struggle. not because peterborough are any good as they really aren't, i just don't think the 2 cup games have helped us at all and those performances have been straight back to earlier in this season and the last. maybe i'm wrong and we were just holding ourselves back or that parky can lift the lads against another side who have been having very indifferent results themselves,i cartainly hope so.

if we can win, then parky ought to be pushing for a new contract, a draw and most of us would be happy, a defeat - well you can't win them all but a heavy defeat and cl crashes and we all do our parky hokey cokey threads again.

    2-0 home win.

2-2 but one side will have One Big Chance to win it... and blow it. I don't know who it will be though.

I dont see our little bit of form going anywhere yet, so i will go with a 3-1 Addicks win!!!

I've gone for a draw in this one. Posh at home do score goals but as WSS quite rightly points out they also conceed. However I dont think it will be as high scoring as some and therefore predict 1-1. Benno/Anyinsah to continue their fruitful partnership with Waggy and Jackson or Reid providing the width and crosses. It would be great to think our defence will hold firm and get another 'shut-out' but I feel as though this week they will be breached for the first time in 4 games. Looking forward to listening to it on CAFC player and giving updates on here as the game progresses.

I didn't bother with predicting the Barnet game but regret it now- would have saved us a replay lol

I think attacking wise Peterborough are very good for this div, just defensively... they're way too overloaded with good mobile players who are too often out of position if the match is in stalemate. Hopefully Anyainsah's playing as he seems to be offering outlet and physically worrying defenders.

I think they are the sort of team that should suit us if we play like we have been and are solid.

Think we'll lose 1-0 and everyone can then complain about the team again rather than the supporters like on Tuesday.

    0-2 to us.

Peterboro would've had us watched recently and picked up on how to make a leaky defence watertight.

3-1 to us, i am strangely confident for this one.

The Posh attack is probably Championship class so our defence and midfield will need to be "at it."

If they are I fancy a draw from this one.

Late winner or a late draw.

be well chuft with anything above a point however pretty confident posh will win this one que fits of histerical over reaction from us

Boyd is a big miss for Peterborough. If we can keep it tight defensively I think we will pick up a point.

After Brighton I really believed the potential was there to loose 4 on the trot in the league.

    0-0.

Hello all, this is my first comment on here. I'm a refugee from the 'fans views' on the late and lamented old offical website. I have a good feeling about Saturday. Peterborough may have hit turbulent waters ... Charlton 2-1

they are having a bit of a wobble, so will probably look at keep it tight. I'm going for typical charlton style, we'll win this one, and follow it up with successive home draws! we will win on saturday!
    0-2

my last 3 predicitons have been spot on...

    Charlton 1- Peterboro -0 GOAL: Benson 72;

Elliot, Francis, Doc, Dailly, Fry, Waggy, Racon, Semedo, Jackson, Benson, Sodje

One of the few teams in this division where an away draw would actually be a very good result. Wasn't the best performance against Southend but I wouldn't mind the same formation with Anyinsah as the lone striker and bring on Benson to nick a goal later on.
