[cite]Posted By: Henry Irving[/cite]Not going to gettooexcited until the deal is done but sounds very, very good news.

Peter Varney's involvement re-assures but "investment group"? Who, what and how much?

Live, love, laugh and BE HAPPY

Tell the truth Henry, you've been collecting the loose change from down the back of the Chesterfield. ; )

Rumour has it that Curbs will be Parky's new assistant.
  • How will this affect our friend Dowie's court case against us ? Can he sue new owners? I'm wondering if this is being pushed through now to avoid any possible ruling against us. I can imagine him on the phone to his lawyers right now.
  • Rumour going round that Varney is fronting Seb Sainburys offer?

    Cautious optimism given Varney's involvement.

Hopefully Dowie's hot air re his legal action won't scupper it when it comes to due diligence. However as I said before the auditors SHOULD have satisfied themselves re potential liabilities as this has been in the public domain for some considerable time.

And we finally see the plus side of the new Official Website....it won't crash under all the pressure!
A little bit excited right now.

    ITS CHRISTMAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!

Peter Varney being involved is the best news about this.
  • Brilliant news! Very excited to read more on this on the 24th. Happy Days! :-)
  • Speaking as someone who attended a match with Reg years ago, in the "old" North Stand, I can assure you that he is not a "real" fan, as he never once sang, danced, or bounced. Mind you, Sunderland won 1 - 0. Good luck with this - hope it turns out OK.

Tis the season to be jolly!
  • The baton has been passed on...

The PR on the OS talks of getting things wrapped up by the 24th, so hopefully some money will be released to buy a couple of players to sustain the promotion push and re-sign Racon and Semedo.
  • Anyone with access to Companies House out there?

Who are the BoD for Baton?

    Good point.

Did he boo the players off at half-time?

If not more proof that he can't be a real fan.

    Not true.

Pleasing news. Varney being at the head gives me hope that these are the "right" people. Word has it that other offers were of the Mark Hulyer variety.

One thing to request. Can we cut all the Curbs crap out now. This is Parky's team and it is more than holding its own. The bloke deserves a bit more respect imho. A change now wouldnt be a particularly good thing. Hes made quality signings without any money and I like to see him given a chance with a competitive Championship budget.

Note - the above is not a dig at AC.

No, he was far too busy passing the thermos around.

Baton is the company selling CAFC, not buying.

    Sweet! Perfect timing CAFC.
All we need now is the 2018 WC and it'll be an amazing day.
  • Two reasons to be cautious:

    1) Zabeel

    2) The last bit of 'good news' we got at Christmas was Alan Pardew.

I'm presuming it must be enough money to ensure at least medium-term stability and not just a couple of seasons worth of sticking plaster, else Murray would not have accepted.

Hopefully we will all soon be looking back on the 2007-10 era (which we might dub the Derek Chappell years rather than the RM years!) as little more than a (very) bad dream.

One also hopes it doesn't unsettle the team in the next few vital weeks. You would like to think the squad will share our joy and be inspired to go out there and play champagne football. But I don't know. Players wondering if they will be replaced with better players in Jan, agents of soon-to-be out of contract players suddenly upping their clients expectations to unreasonable levels etc ? .

A great day for Charlton, let's hope the owners go for evolution rather than revolution.

We are being bought by Father Christmas FACT

He saw the kit and thought it looked like his outfit.

That's why it has to be done by 24th
  • I am sure that Richard Murray is looking forward to a happy christmas and a good rest, watch the games as president of the club and enjoy a little bit of that money that he put in to the club. Thank you Richard!
